Interesting, considering reports that apple had gotten Google not to activate multi-touch. I guess the fruit does not have the same pull with HTC...

The HTC Hero is shipping with support for Flash Player 9/Actionscript 2. Adobe is still working on Flash Player 10/Actionscript 3 support, which won't be available until much later (beta comes out in October, but who knows when the final release will come).

i hope they bake it well, it sure is powerful, but fundamentally we are looking at a hand-held computer that is 500-600MHz and 256MB memory.

Kind of funny when you think about it. For a desktop that was only 10 years ago... Adobe had Flash v4 and they were releasing v5, which included Actionscript 1.0.

So, Its about time!

Yea I prefer they take their time and get it working flawless from the beginning. Last thing we need is some flaky buggy program that ruins the experience. So far I'm happy with what I can do, now if I could just copy/paste from an email?.... it's nice to dream...

Yeah...this will (somewhat) level the playing field between iPhone and the rest of the smartphone community!

It would be nice if there was some kind of smart flash that doesn't show advertisements.

I am sure this is something in the Flash mobile spec since it would eat battery on every platform.

There are a ton of threads about this, for example http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pr...e-october.html

but the upshot is that the beta release of Flash for the Pre is due for October.

Default With flash 10 coming, battery life impact?

I know when I used skyfire on my ppc, the battery life was less than if I used opera mini since opera does not have flash, so I was curious. With flash 10 coming on our phones, which means we can view all the videoes/everything on the websites, is this going to have a adverse affect on our battery lives?

Yea, it will affect battery life. More things to load = more battery used. It probably won't be too terrible tho.

Hopefully when it is implemented there is an option to enable/disable flash.
