Default Luna restart vs. full restart

What is the difference between a luna restart and a full restart? For example, if we need more memory do we need to do a full restart or will a luna restart do? Is the any reason to do a full restart instead of a luna restart?

Luna Restart is just restarting the OS (only software will restart). A full restart is a FULL restart. Meaning software AND hardware will turn off, and then turn on again. If you want more memory, you can just restart luna, but with all the problems and memory leaks NOT yet fixed by Palm, I myself do a full restart to be sure.

I've tested both during memory issues, both work. Luna restart is simply faster.

I don't know of any way to do this without Homebrew. Downloading Luna Manager from PreWare will give you the ability to do a Luna-only restart.

yeah that's the only way. Luna manager. I've tried simply restarting java.... Its helped with the browser a few times but not 3D games. Its inconclusive at this point. At least for me.

also there is a PATCH called: "advanced-reset-options.patch"

That patch adds a Luna Restart On holding the power button.

Download it from this Post:

Is their ever a reason to do a java restart instead of a luna restart. i find that a luna restart takes about just as long as just hitting an regular restart

That's actually a full restart (the R stands for reboot).

A Luna restart is twice as fast as that.

No. That is a full restart of the phone software and hardware and it takes a LONG time.

A luna restart is software restart only and is MUCH faster.

EDIT: rlopin beat me to it
