Meet your Contacts on the Pre | Palm Goon

Nothing too new and no info on filtering imported contacts, but nice nonetheless.

Two contacts related question:

1. What if I don't want half my FB friends to be in my contacts?
2. What if I want a FB friend's name to be appear differently in my contacts?

1. You're stuck, it's all or nothing, once you sync up your Facebook contacts you can't delete them individually.

2. Just create a contact with how you want his name to appear and link it to the facebook contact profile. It will basically replace how it will show up.

You're funny.

And if you are correct, you can always delete friends on Facebook.

You can remove the facebook profile from the phone, along with all the contacts that came from facebook.

Thanks for the tip.

Looks like I'll be skipping the Facebook sync and just going with Google.

Or I'll be more diligent in managing my friends list on Facebook

Actually Google's sync will be worst. Gmail basically adds anyone you send an email to to your contacts. I have like a 1000 ppl in there that I don't know.

Well, according to The Invisible Man who's been making all the videos on Youtube, it's true. You cannot delete synced Facebook contacts.

I only email people I do know from my personal Gmail, but I see what you're saying. I have a lot of people on Facebook who I went to highschool with or kinda know but don't want cluttering my contacts. Gmail would be easier for me to manage, I think.

The option is there but he did not demonstrate it, if you do it, you get a popup that says "Facebook profiles cannot be deleted"

I will not be screwing around with Face book importing that is for sure. Seems like the fastest way to add 100+ contacts to your phone that you will never end up actually needing to contact.

Completely ********. For example, I've added a lot of ppl to my FB friends recently because that's the only way to add them to your "Mafia" in "Mafia Wars"... there's no reason those ppl should be in my phone's contact list. I mean it's basic: give me a checkbox let me choose who to add to my phone from my online lists.

I've been looking at this on the videos and the feature descriptions and I hope we are all wrong because this is one of the nightmares downsides of "synergy." Adding is not what causes me headaches and time it is editing ie removing contacts, etc from places they don't belong.

For all this talk about how great Synergy and linked contacts are by Palm, I'm not convinced...I'm staying the hell away from it. Pulling pictures, numbers, im accounts and other info from Facebook was cool until Palm decided it was all hundreds of Facebook contacts or nothing.
