I see they are going with the angry bird fad. What ever works i guess.

So are we now calling this "bean Bird" the mascot of webOS?

    How dare you!

    Bean Bird's never angry!

He or she may be somewhat flatulent...

He'll get pretty angry if you don't setup that wifi network for 10th time

It'll be fine! I totally know what I'm doing.

Why, only last week, I set up all the TVs for the local school...wait was it WEP or WPA? Ah! Who cares!

    What could possibly go wrong?

i remember watching a friend set up his Wii, and how character walk-thrus made it very simple.
i remember turning on my PS3 for the first time, and it was just a big menu.

if this 'bean bird' adds to the positive UX, and the overall "ease of use" that LG appears to be leveraging webOS, then i support it.

hopefully it does not evolve into that ridiculous MS paper clip though.

    MS search puppy anyone?

I hope bean bird stays hidden, when setup is done or tutorial is done... maybe a little joke on christmas or easter or whatever... but I would not want a bird sitting on my tv all the time.

    "Not annoying like Clippy"

Hands-on with LG's smart TV running webOS (video)

interesting to hear the add'l discussion about the bird in the newer interview posted.

i like the idea of using the bird only to ensure a successful setup, and then it's gone. it's not a mascot.

    but -

i do give some merit to the interviewer's suggestion to use the bird as a Siri-like voice recognition search tool. they replied that Lg had voice search in the past.....hmmm.....

"Bean Bird! Magnum P.I. Season 3, episode 6!" lol

Ah! The fencing match! Higgins, you're so funny!

"Bean Bird! Set up moustache based, detective drama launcher page!"

    Burt Reynolds is back!

Of course, Magnum P.I. scores 3 times over - Rick was the only one without a moustache!

Maybe an easter egg like the touchpad, swiping down on a card in reverse landscape orientation and releasing for a "Wheeeeeeeeee" or something Beanbirdesqe

Though it might be hard to hold your 80" TV in reverse landscape orientation , so they might want to simplify it.
