    Well, maybe '8' & '2' also go together re. the Post(ee) @ #21 above?

2.2.5 doesn't seem to contain any app changes. There are some binary changes that might affect kernel, drivers etc, but not sure about what exactly, maybe John can tell more about that :-) No new modem firmware so GSM reception is still very poor :'(

So besides the build number change from Build: 1222 to Build: 2974

FYI webOS 2.2.4 AT&T build is 2211 and webOS 2.2.4 WR build is 3175.

So in a nut shell besides the techie stuff below what changed a newer audio policy manager, luna-universalsearchmgr, and luna-webkit.

With the exception of the White Verizon Pre3, every one of these has been in my possession at one point or another.

Currently have 7 of them (not counting the 4G TouchPad that'll be going in The Great webOS Nation Giveaway soon), 9 if you count a Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 both running Open webOS.

You actually came into possession of a Windsornot? I mean what could tell about it? I mean from the photos the software didn't look optimized by the calendar icon being large and and the Just search screen being distorted?

Wow...your a tease ;p lol I'm going to take a small guess and say that you were either the person Mr. Whitby gave/ sold the device too orrrr you saw it and had a hands on with it when you went as our cmmunity Liason to HP last year Mr. Kessler. But regardless im glad it was at least admired.

Whitby apparently traded it to Kessler for a Nexus 4 back when those were a little rarer.

I am really disliking the veil of secrecy around the WindsorNot, though. This is a great opportunity to reveal some of the secrets of one of the platforms' unreleased devices, for the benefit of everyone and potentially even to help merge 3.0.X into the old phones. If nothing else, it will shed some light on what HP had planned before the cancellation.

Derek, do the community a favor and share some information about that gem. It's the right thing to do.

I don't know bout that the Nexus 4 trade lol. I agree that maybe it would a benifit for the community to learn about this device. But I do also agree with the fact that anyone who wants to keep the device a secret has the right to do so and they are not obligated to share anything. I'm curious as well but I mean I feel if it was something to tell us he would.

If so,then I would have thought that Rod Whitby would be actually be an ideal candidate to assist in lifting any remaining 'veil of secrecy around the WindsorNot'?

He may have explored both the hardware and the software in minute detail - Developer Style!

I can not speak on behalf of others, but some people had a NDA with HP/Palm maybe it is not that they want to keep a secret but they have to, to honor their promises?

Sure thing.. thus the "no kiss and tell" I expect!
Still a shame for the rest of this community though. Maybe there is a time expiration on their NDAs?

So... If this WindsorNot device does have 3.0 on it... there probably won't be much to garnish from sharing such information... Given that some of these components would need source code that isn't released... What you'd want to look into doing is getting the LunaSysMgr from LunaCE stable, and probably seeing if you could get QtWebKit to work on a 2.2.4 device. One of the big things with 3.0 was hardware acceleration support. Don't think you'll be getting that on any 2.* based device.

I'd say the community probably already has about 60% of what it needs to "get 3.0 running on a phone". The other 40% is just not possible without access to proprietary (either Palm/HP proprietary, or Qualcomm proprietary) components. But, someone just needs to do the work. Most of us are already working on OWO -- and speaking for myself, already have the time we can spend on that limited.

Not trying to rain on any parades. The platform is pretty open, so, you don't really need to rely on a unicorn to create more.
    Did you know:

webOS ran on a Treo 800 during initial development.
