YouTube Weirdness

I have franken pre Gsm unlocked.
I can stream videos using Kalemsoft over internet, watch sprint tv and use my internet connection with free tether to stream videos pretty reliably on my laptop.

But try to play a three minute youtube video and that's a problem. Invariably it will buffer and start to play as expected, but more often than not it will stop after a few seconds. Its not a complete stop to buffer like I would consider normal behavior, but the adio drops out and the images start to skip and eventually stop most times. Then if I look at the progress it goes forward a second, back,forward again etc., like it confused.

Sometimes if I drag the scrubber back to the start it will do better. Any ideas what's going on? Why is youtube so hard to stream
