I know it's possible to use webOS devices as USB 3G modems through FreeTether etc, but can It be used as a USB wifi adapter for a PC?

I see no reason why not. I have used my Pre- in a similar way, connecting to a wifi hotspot (which I got access to via my tarrif) and linking to the PC via bluetooth. Should work the same with USB.

I think to do that there needs to be a new gadget plugin or something, unless it's built in.
