Anyone checking the App Catalog on their Pre 2 today will have noticed a new app: Paper Mache by Ryan Watkins. While not really a new app, it is new for Pre 2 users. Why is that? Because HP is finally allowing developers to release Enyo apps for all Enyo-enabled devices.

This, of course, is possible because HP released a Maps update that oh-by-the-way also installs Enyo. If you try to launch Paper Mache without having installed the Maps update first, it will tell you that it needs the Maps update to run. Once you have the Maps update installed, you're good to go. As expected, performance on the Pre 2 is slower than on the Touchpad. But having Enyo as an option is great nevertheless.

I myself have an Enyo app that is working fine on the Pre 2. Just have to smooth out some rough edges before allowing it on the Pre 2. Hopefully, HP will start testing Enyo apps and automatically allow apps that work well on the Pre 2.

Also the still beta but working good DataJog, an Chrome2Phone (neato!-like) is an enyo app, which can beam data from one desktop browser (or via patch webOS browser) to all your webOS devices simultaneously : http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touc...a-testers.html

How about for 1.4.5? After updating Maps, we also have enyo framework installed. But no new enyo apps in App Catalog.

There are currently a handful of them showing in the 1.4.5 list, and as devs get their apps working, I'm sure there will be more.

Remove Messaging Beeps patch for webOS 3.0.5, Left/Right bezel gestures in LunaCE,
Whazaa! Messenger and node-wa, SynerGV 1 and 2 - Google Voice integration, XO - Subsonic Commander media streamer, AB:S Launcher
(1:39:33 PM) halfhalo: Android multitasking is like sticking your fingers into a blender
    GO OPEN WEBOS!
People asked me for a donate link for my non-catalog work, so here you are:

Really? How can I know an app is "enyo"-powered? Thanks.

the full versions of the apps i mentioned above are avail now for webos 2.1++. DataJog will arrive for older devices too i was told ,but just ask devs directly if an enyo app is not avail for your phone or webos version, they are often very responsive:

sven-ziegler.com | my webos stuff for the hp touchpad

    http://developer.palm.com/appredirec....datajog.webos
    DataJog | Ingeniously Moving Data

can I just sync between my TP and Pre phone? Do I have to pay additional for each platform?

If they are on the same account, and they are not seperate applications, then you should be able to just download them from the app catalog on the phone.

DataJog (All Enyo) will work on TouchPad and Phone as they have the same app id com.datajog.webos - so it works. Buy once, use twice.

It is now available on all devices!

I just ported Shortcut Launcher over to Veer, Pre's and Pixi's. It's in pre-release test now and hope to be in the "all devices" app catalog by the end of the week.

    Enjoy,

    On my 4G TouchPad, Pre3 or Panda-Veer.

Paper Mache is available in the app catalog now for all webOS devices, including 1.4.5

Any application with an identical name on the TouchPad and the phone devices will be "buy once" - application names must be unique to the App Catalog. Some application have made separate "tablet" and "phone" versions so you will need to purchase each.

Paper Mache is free, and the Instapaper subscription required works any device using the service.

I wonder if anyone tried to port some Touchpad apps onto the Pre3. Pre3 has Enyo, while the Touchpad has a much larger selection of apps in the app store.

I tried to copy out Zinio from my Touchpad and put it on my Pre3. But turns out it's an Enyo-PDK hybrid app, and most of the user interface elements are hard coded for the Touchpad screen size. This resulted in my Pre3 only being able to show a small part of the whole app. Worst of all, the Zinio account login field is off screen so I can't log into my account.

On the other hand, pure Enyo apps are more scalable and should work on the Pre3 with minor tweaking. Anyone have any experience trying?

a little bit offtopic: SYM key does not work on enyo apps using webOS 2.x (perhaps 1.x).
    confirmed by ben @ hp...

Is there a way anyone could patch this, and perhaps could we get together some bounty?

It's most annoying for Pre2 (2.1) users in countrys using special character like germany where the often used umlauts can't be entered SYM+aous, this changed for Pre3 (or perhaps it's cause of 2.2) where the Umlauts are entered by OPT+auos

Shouldn't it be possible to press SYM in all apps and get the whole symbols menu to choose from?

VOTE here for a patch: [Patch request]enable SYM key in enyo on webOS <3.x
