    If you want an unlocked phone to use on any GSM carrier, yes. But at this point "any GSM carrier" basically means you get to choose between AT&T and T-Mobile. And that may soon be just AT&T if AT&T manages to get their purchase of T-Mobile approved by the gov't.

    My advice is to pick your carrier first based on plan pricing, coverage, etc., and then shop for a phone.

    You can still find Sprint and Verizon Pres and Pixis on eBay for dirt cheap.
    Touchscreens are a fad.

    welcome... now you know why many of us are unwilling to let go of a 2 year-old phone and "upgrade" to the latest and greatest... such is the life of one who's experienced webOS.
