    I'm on a webOS 2.1 with a Pre 2.

I'm looking to change the icons of some of the core apps, ie) messaging and email.

I know how to change normal apps, but where do I find the directory to change the core app icons in? Thanks

The directory didn't change from 1.4.5 it is still /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.name of app you want to change.

really, so I can find the default music app, messaging and email apps in there? I didn't notice them in there, so I assumed they were somewhere else.

And i didn't even know where they were in 1.4.5

All default apps should be in there.

    com.palm.app.musicplayer
    com.palm.app.messaging
    com.palm.app.email

They're there. You can't see them in USB mode though. Try using Internalz Pro.

Here's a quick video that shows how to get to /usr/palm/applications/

They're definitely there. You can download the doctors from the palm website, and from the resources directory extract 'webos.tar' and 'somethingsomethingrootfs.tar', and they're in there. You can also learn a lot about the filesystem this way.

I am using Internalz Pro. Do I have to enable master mode or something?

I don't think so. I have master mode off and I can see those directories. Do those apps work on your phone?

master mode is not needed to view system file, only to edit/delete them.

All the apps work fine, I just can't find them in the directory:
    /media/cryptofs/apps/usr/palm/applications.

I can't see the core apps (messaging, email, browser, music player) in there.

I'm using Internalz Pro which works fine.

    That's because they're not in /media/cryptofs/apps/usr/palm/applications

    They are in /usr/palm/applications, however.

And thank you Mr. Fxspec06, that was exactly what I was asking, I had no idea there were 2 directories with similar locations.

    Thanks

Jeez guys! Calm down. I just got a little confused. They both have /usr/palm/applications in the path name. I just thought you were all abbreviating /media/cryptofs/apps/usr/palm/applications.

I didn't know there was another folder that followed such a similar path.

Duly noted and I've fixed my problem now. Gracias to those who assisted.

I am surely not upset at all. I just went back to check my post to make sure I hadn't made a typo or something because I wouldn't have wanted to give you the wrong information.
