Well I have developed a homebrew dictionary application which is a port of KDic/ZDic application of old Palm OS. It is universal dictionary application, which contain no dictionary, but there are a lot on the Internet. It just display what stores in dictioanry.

KDic is developed by Japanese and mainly used in Japan and China, and most of its dictionary resource can only be found on Japan/China forums and most of them are English-Chinese, English-Japanese and so on (something like offline Chinese Wikipedia also exists, but no English Wikipedia for it is too large, would larger than 2GB if made), and online dictionary is good on WebOS. Also, many dictionaries is illegal for copyright. For these reasons I am not sure it is useless or not. I wonder if there are someone who need it in this forum and whether should it be published here.

The ipk attachment is fully functional but not localized , the UI is Chinese(But the UI contains only about 10 words). If there's high demand of such an application I can learn to do the localization - though I haven't try it. It is not certified to work properly so use at your own risk.

Thanks for your try and advices.

    A simple instruction:
Tested on Webos 1.4.5, both pre and pixi.
Put dictionary files at USB drive/ClassicApps/PALM/PROGRAMS/MSFILES/ , which is also used by KDic/ZDic in Classic, though no need for Classic to be installed. File name is used to determine dictionary type:
to show GBK phonetic : xxxx_gmx.pdb
to show GBK phonetic transcriptions of Chinese characters: xxx_pinyin.pdb
    to show UTF-8 content: xxx_utf.pdb
others will mean to direct display ASCII.
use _utf also disable translation of Palm OS STE format in dictioanry to HTML.

You can make your own dictionary by tools provided by KDic.

Input the word and press enter to run the query. Automatically query 1s after no key press. This time can be set in Menu-Options (Second option), 0 for no auto query.
Buttons at Buttom : prev/next word in dictionary order
Scroll to left and right : prev/next word in history order
This two actions can be exchanged in Menu-Options ( first option )
Top banner: tap to show dictionary list.
Hotkey: P for copy all text displayed, H for show history list.

Thanks very much for doing this. I have some databases for a Malay-English, English-Malay and Malay-Malay dictionary in Kdic/Zdic format which I can share.
I'll be testing this for sure!
Here are some links for folks:

    Kdic homepage
    Homepage of KDIC
    - download the latest version (1.4.5) and it includes the Docs and the command line converter to make your own dictionary
    - all one needs is the data in a plain text file in the format:
    word1 /// definition
    word2 /// definition
    word3 /// definition
and then run the command line conversion utility to generate the Kdic database in PDB format

Something I posted in Palmaddicts a while back:
PalmAddicts: Free/Cheap Dictionaries for your Palm

    Some dictionary databases:
    Google Translate
    including a Wordnet English-English dictionary

I'll upload the Malay dictionaries after I've tested this app

I first created the directories as required and put in some pdb Kdic databases, and when I ran the app, I got some error, something like dictionary not found.
I had to delete the databases, run the app again then got a "Service success" message.
I then put in some databases and it works!
Navigation using the bottom arrows does not work I get a message (see attached screenshot)
However swipe left and right works.

One question, is the app dependent on the PalmOS engine in webOS 1.4.5? Will it still work in webOS 2.x?
I'd greatly appreciate an English UI version, thanks!

It's be very easy to make one if you have a text file of the word/translation
    edit:
    I found one here:
    http://www.ilovelanguages.com/IDP/files/Spanish.txt

You only need to convert that to a text file in the format (e.g. use Excel)
    Code:
    abasing /// humillante
    abasing /// humillante, degradante[Verb]
    abate	/// disminuir, reducir, mitigar
    abate	/// mitigar
    abate	/// terminar, hacer cesar
    abated /// amainado, amplacado, mitigado
and run the command line converter to make it into a PDB

My quick google search could not locate a Spanish-> English text file but someone did it here:
    http://www.teleread.com/paul-biba/fr...sh-dictionary/ in Mobipocket format
