FYI, here's an update on Palm sales

Palm smart phone market shipments in Q3 2010 < 3% of smart phone marketshare for that time period.

Apple takes the lead in the US smart phone market with a 26% share (Canalys research release: r2010111)

Just wait - the best is yet to come - give HP and Palm a chance to re-invent webOS and develop some new hardware.

Exactly. Kinda a big assumption to think that other = Palm.

After RIM, Apple, Android, Microsoft what other OS (in smartphone space) is left? Symbian, bada, PalmOS or webOS?

Also, these are percentage values which means 3% from 2 years ago is a very small number compared to 3% from this year.

Well that's what Other is - that 3% covers palm and Bada and em... other...

So if Palm make up let's say 70% of that category, then they have a 2% share.

That 3% represents 600,000 units, so if they shipped about 400,000 units that would be able right.

    Right. If 3%= X + Y + Palm, then Palm = 3% - X - Y, which is <3% (assuming X + Y are not 0).

I wonder if WP7 will overtake in Q4?

    So you'd end up with

    1) Android
    2) Iphone
    3) Rim
    4) Windows phone 7
    5) Windows 6.X
    6) Web OS?

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see WP7 overtake WebOS 2.0 in Q4. Developer support is also higher for WP7 than webOS and the hardware getting released looks to be pretty good.

Don't worry about the numbers. Now is not the time. 11/02/11, that's when you worry about the numbers. By that time HP will have WeboS for over a year.

With nothing new released and rumours of new hardware early in 2011 why would anybody be surprised at low numbers now.
