Can somebody who has the new SDK post some screenshots, or would that violate the NDA?

I don't think 2.0 or new hardware will be avaiable this year. I hope palm just started working on 2.0 a few months ago. Because it doesn't look like 2.0 is even ready. I can tell you right now I'm going to hate 'just type' being on my homepage. I like my wallpaper clean. They should of made a page next to the home screen to switch and go to just type. It's been a year and that's all they got?

All that developer stuff is great but I'm not a developer. Just an end user. The only new features that matter to me are, some sort of software update to give the camera a zoom function, Flash, and the ability to save pics from the web (i.e. browser updates). None of the other wiz-bang stuff matters to me. It would be really nice if Opera Mini were available for WebOS.

Will 2.0 have total backup to include text messages and call logs?

The success of 2.0 hinges on two VERY important things:

    1. Will the new phone be amazing (powerful specs, solid hardware and look great)

    2. Will they finally figure out how to advertise it

    Number two is VERY important.

im so pumped but im nervous i might not use some of these features. I.E. i dont ever use the wave launcher, the advanced app switch thing, and some other things. So far i think Stacks is by far the most important/useful tho

    Sweet!

It is smoother than previous version?

    Mojo messaging, anyone?

Or at least better non-battery draining polling for apps

So apparently, remember those screenshots with the chinese webos versions?

The launcher looked like an early prototype of the upcoming 2.0

Yeah, I thought the same myself...i like the new look...been comparing it to my pre for a while, and it makes me not want to go back to the pre

From a solely consumer standpoint there is little to be excited over.
    Some basic thoughts include
    - WebOS 2.0 will hit about the same time as Android 3.0 (give or take a month or 2)
    - there is nothing a consumer can appreciate as ground breaking or a 'must have it' from the announced 2.0 changes. It's all behind the scenes or unrealized potential.

    - where is the groundbreaking hardware to attract or keep people on board?
    - why is there no mention of actually absorbing (into the WebOS) the numberous homebrew patches we use to make the phone useful?
    - why is there no productivity announcements from a synergy, flash or PIM standpoint? (No I don't mean stuff that devs can tap into and build later, I mean stuff the consumer uses now)

I really like my Palm Pre and bought it when there was no other phone to match other than a iPhone (ick). It's been over a year and I'm moving forward in 6months or less. I want something that is fast, larger screen, better camera, more features.....something that Palm is lacking....and Android is dumping into the market by the TONNE.

Right now WebOS 2.0 is about as useful to the consumer as Flash is....been there done that and still don't have it.

Getting this update is almost exciting as getting 1.4.1, or is it more Excited. Huh?
