so has anyone seen the new facebook places feature on their facebook pages on the pre? Evidently, it should work with all HTML5 + geolocation browsers, so i'm wondering if im just on a slow rollout, or if the pre is incapable of using it.

I was about to post the same thing. I was just reading about FB Places and went to try it out. According to their FAQ it should work on the mobile version of the site, but I'm not seeing it either. I don't see any reason why it SHOULDN'T work.

Yeah, thats what i was thinking as well. it SHOULD work. I tried it on my ipod touch as well, and it wasn't enabled on the mobile site there either. It does, however, appear on the ipod touch / iphone app update that was pushed down this morning. So I would probably say in the next few days maybe.

I try tried to look it up on the mobile site but no go for me. I'm hoping something will be put in place on the Facebook app soon... Though after reading about Places, Foursquare still seems more fun.

IDK. Foursquare would be ALOT better if it had YELP integration and maybe even OPENTABLE integration, as well as a working FB share mechanisim and easier friend finders / shares.

I just posted about it on my Facebook status and one of my so-called friends piped in and said, "I just read that you need an iPod for that. Get an iPod."

<rolleyes> There's so much wrong here I don't know where to begin.

well, it DOES NOT work with the Ipod touch... I think they haven't updated their http://touch.facebook.com site yet. I confrimed it not working on pre, evo, ipod touch, and just for <poopies> and giggles, google chrome

Okay ... this explains it. If it doesn't work on any of those other devices, then they just haven't updated their mobile site like they claim.

Figures. Any chance of a homebrew patch to make it support it? Or perhaps a palm update with said support?

Simplistically put, it's Facebook's answer to Foursquare and Gowalla. You'll be able to not only tell your friends what you're doing, but also geolocate WHERE you're doing it.

depends on which flavor of android you use i believe. i wanna say 2.1 and above do, but don't quote me on it

Lame. The API is supposed to be released today, so I'm sure it will get integrated with the webOS app at some point. Supposedly it also integrates with Foursquare & Gowalla, but I don't use either of those so I don't know.
