you downloaded "the webOS"? Can you explain what that means?

Are you in developer mode? Are you talking about quickinstall? Preware?

Give us a link to the instructions you were following.
I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess.

Welcome to the PreCentral forums. It sounds like you are trying to use webOS Quick install.
I would recommend following the instructions carefully here: http://www.precentral.net/how-add-ho...hes-and-themes
also you can install homebrew apps, patches and themes using Preware. You can get that here: http://install.preware.org/
    Enjoy!

Just type “webos20090606” or “upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart” to put the phone in developer mode and you should be good to go

One additional thing -- I would also suggest installing the DevMode Launcher app if you get tired of using either of the codes listed above. URL: http://www.precentral.net/homebrew-a...vmode-launcher.

That said: once you get started & get PreWare & Internalz, you can ignore the wires & pretty much never look back. Good luck & welcome to the fun that is Homebrew!
