I recently discovered that you can reach Palm's free on-line chat support from the Pre Plus help app. It is clearly marked as 'beta' and doesn't appear to have links in every topic. I will post screen shots later from my pc.

you can see an example by finding the help topic 'open an application using search' and see the chat link on the bottom. Palm support isn't helpful for carrier-specific topics, but general topics and profile questions are well handled this way. My headset stopped working, and I got a replacement ordered from palm this way.

I searched and didn't find this info anywhere, so I hope this helps someone.

You're correct this is currently Beta, but we are hoping that it is helpful enough that we can continue the service.

It was originally opened up to Bell Mobility devices only, but has since been expanded to other devices. We have provided links to some of the help articles to quickly access the chat support. At this time we don't plan on expanding to all articles until we see how the "pilot" runs out.

Sorry I forgot to post these screen shots. I've been on the road for several weeks.

Here are screen shots of one path to initiating a chat with Palm support. I'm not sure why the button in only located in certain topics... some of them seeming to be very easy topics, and some much more advanced. Probably part of the test.

Has anyone else tried this service? It seems to work well. I just used it successfully to get a defective headset replaced (thanks, Palm).

A few things are taken into consideration when choosing what topics to place the chat link on

    1. Popularity
    2. Can something go wrong. (e.g. a help article describing buttons on the Pre isn't going to have a link to chat, but an article describing how to launch an application may)
    3. What the article has you do (we can't have mobile chat on articles that have to do with USB transfer)
    4. What troubleshooting might entail. (If troubleshooting is going to have you partial erase your phone it's better if you are not going through mobile chat)
