    the framework and core of 'webos' most relatively conforms to that of a webpage. Meaning that the system is a constant flow of html and javascript and some java melded into one to produce a web-like, vamped up, styled out experience that is webos

    I'm pretty sure it has to do with it being built on web technologies like html javascript and css but I could be wrong

    May also have a little to do with the synergy & web synchronization.

    built with "web' technology, and fully dependent on being connected to the web to work...

    "i" was already taken, so "Web" made a pretty good alternative.

    Along those lines, why do we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway?

    Actually, I drive on my driveway and park in my garage.

    Because in every webos phone is really powered by spiders that make webs inside of your phone. And the os came from the term "ohh **** because that is what people say when they open their phone and see the spiders.
