    it allows you to write apps using web technologies like jsjsjs, $etc$.

    Think java, in that it's a really bloated environment where you can write an application once and run it everywhere. It does use web languages though, so it's basically what we already have, except when applications are written for AIR they can be run on any phone that has the AIR environment. All this mean is more applications for us when it lands :P
