So if this was posted already, I'm sorry, but I've had the worst trouble trying to figure out how to put files that I've backed up to my internal memory on my pre back onto the pre. (Here's exactly what i did @ this link: Patch Launcher Hide-Delete The NASCAR App - WebOS Internals specifically I deleted the sprint portal app.)

Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

    Thanks!

    Elaborate a little more please.

What files specifically did you back up?

    From where .... To Where....

    Where aer they now?

Where do you want thm to be?

I don't completely understand your question?

Okay I get it... I just read the link you provided.

If you hid the application, by using VI to edit the Json file and change a value from true to false then just undo that edit and stop LunaSysMgr && start LunaSysMgr

If you deleted the application then just run the following code...

    Code:
    mount -o remount,rw /
    ipkg install com.handson.app.nascar
    stop LunaSysMgr && start LunaSysMgr
    mount -o remount,ro /
If data exists in the backup on your /media/internal location that you want to restore then after reinstalling by using the commands above run the following...

    Code:
    cp -R /media/internal/path/to/backup/com.handson.app.nascar /usr/palm/applications/com.handson.app.nascar

Here's the first step I took:
    Code:
    cp -a /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.sprintportal/ /media/internal/sprintportal-backup
Here's the second step I took:
    Code:
    ipkg remove com.palm.app.sprintportal
ok and then with your recommendation i entered:
    Code:
    cp -R /media/internal/path/to/backup/com.palm.app.sprintportal /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.sprintportal
and this is the error i got:
    Code:
cp: cannot stat '/media/internal/path/to/backup/com.palm.app.sprintportal': No such file or directory
    root@castle:/var/home/root#
    Any ideas?

When you issues the commmands in my previous post, one at a time, which one gives you a error:4?
  8.    #8
    here's what it says:
    Code:
    root@castle:/var/home/root# ipkg install com.palm.app.sprintportal
An error ocurred, return value: 4.
    Collected errors:
    Cannot find package com.palm.app.sprintportal.
Check the spelling or perhaps run 'ipkg update'
Other than that, the other line enters in okay.

    Sorry for the delayed response.

    Try this...

    Code:
    ipkg-opt install com.palm.app.sprintportal

    Still no luck.

    Code:
    root@castle:/var/home/root# ipkg-opt install com.palm.app.sprintportal
    Nothing to be done
An error ocurred, return value: 4.
    Collected errors:
    Cannot find package com.palm.app.sprintportal.
Check the spelling or perhaps run 'ipkg update'
    root@castle:/var/home/root#

The 'nothing to be done' part indicates to me that the package is already installed.

First of all, it won't hurt anything for you to go ahead and run the 'ipkg update' command. Do that before proceeding.

This may also seem like a dumb question but how are you connecting to your phone? While connected can you surf the web? Do you have an internet connection on the phone? If yes, good.... proceed. If not, you need to correct this prior to proceeding.

next, to verify whether or not com.palm.app.sprintportal is installed already, run this command....

    Code:
     ipkg list_installed | grep com.palm.app.sprintportal
If the programs is already installed, the following line should be returned...

    Code:
    com.palm.app.sprintportal - 1.0-7 - Sprint Portal launcher icon
    or something similiar.....

Then try this to force a reinstall or if nothing is returned from the above command this will reveal more info as to why....

    Code:
     ipkg install -force-reinstall com.palm.app.sprintportal
You should get another message about the package being up to date and that there is nothing to be done. If so, run the remainder of commands from above

    Code:
    cp -a /media/internal/sprintportal-backup /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.sprintportal/
    stop LunaSysMgr && start LunaSysMgr
    mount -o remount,ro /

Ok all of what you said above was very confusing.. and the coding didnt' help... especially the "com.palm.app.sprintportal - 1.0-7 - Sprint Portal launcher icon"

    but...

The app is already installed.. I was able to figure out how to see if the application was installed by doing this:
    Code:
    cd /usr/palm/applications
    ls
and that showed me that it was installed..
once there i cd /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.sprintportal and did an ls command... and then i copied over everything from /media/internal/sprintportal-backup onto the actual sprint portal... but now it's still not showing up.... any ideas?
