    Hi all!

I rooted my Pre, and whe SSHing into it and checking out the processes using "top," periodically the "java" process will show up, with very high CPU usage. It seems to range from 20% to 50%, although sometimes the "java" process is very, very low -- 1% or less.

I can't figure out why this is. This happens while no cards are open on the Pre.

Here's what the "top" command gets me:

    top - 23:03:10 up 1:04, 2 users, load average: 1.79, 2.26, 2.60
    Tasks: 89 total, 1 running, 88 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie

Any idea what gives? I hope I've given you enough information, but if I haven't, just let me know what other info I can provide.

    Thanks for the help!

What custom services have you installed? FileMgr Service, Mackage Manager Service, LED Service, Accelerometer Service, etc.?

    Good question.

Package Manager was one, for the on-screen keyboard. I also have lighttpd installed, for GPS location via Google Maps.

You'll have to forgive me, as I'm not sure what exactly has its own custom service. I'll just list what I have installed:

    Preware
    fileCoaster
    gDial Pro
    AccuWeather
    Pandora
    Simple Bible
    CoinFlip
    Ampache Mobile
    Agenda
    Twee
    Tweed
    SHOUTcast
    FriendsFlowBeta
    Dot Game
    Brightness Unlinked
    Battery Monitor
    Topple Ball
    Word Whirl
    Screamager
    Quick Contacts
    DietTrac
    Nutrition Facts
    AmpachPre
    Mind Master
    Go To Lite
    WxRad
    Quick Dialer
    My Tether
    blobber
    Cell Stalker
    Diet Control
    BlockDrop
    P2GoogleVoice
    Send My Location

    *phew*

Other than that, the only customization I have done is installing the on-screen keyboard, and then following the instructions to root the Pre, set up DynDNS, and set up the Google Maps GPS location thing.

This isn't news. I've been seeing this since I've had my Pre. It happens when you're SSH'd in via EVDO. I've never seen my phone do it if I'm SSH'd in via USBnet or WiFi. And this is with a fresh install of webOS 1.1 after webOS doctoring the phone (ie: no services loaded).

Thanks for the info. Maybe it's just some oddity that happens when SSHing over EVDO. If it's not happening while I'm not logged in, it's no big deal to me.
