I have a program that takes some information that I need and converts it into html weblinked pages. Is there some way to upload a full directory of html files and browse them on pre. I would like to put the html files on the pre and browse the files locally. Does anybody know if there is any way to do that? Thanks.

you could run lighttpd web server on your Pre and view them from 127.0.0.1:8081 from your local Pre browser. you could even go one step further and use lighttpd php abilities to create an upload web page and upload your files via the internet.

try here for instructions on the install of lighttpd. still trying to get it working on external browsers myself, but it works great internally.

Looks pretty complicated...I assume this is the only way to do it? I assume I have to root my Pre to do this?

Its not too bad, but yes you would need to root your pre. I did finally get it working it seems (still testing from various pc's). The rooting directions are pretty simple and can be found all over these forums.

Just wanted to see if there was a way to do this now? I tried the Lighttpd method, but it didn't work (or I didn't use it right). I have an entire directory of http files that I'd like to be able to look at and they are all linked together. Can anyone help?

You are so amazing!!! This really is awesome and saves me!!

With it, I have two questions:

Can I set the web page to load zoomed in to a certain level?

Can I create an icon to put in the launcher that will go straight to the webpage?

    Thanks again.

    1. In a webview widget you might be able to
    2. Browser App Menu > Add to Launcher
Sprint Palm Pre - WebOS 2.1 > Sprint HTC Arrive

Also the program preader views html files... so does the simple bible app... not what they're meant for but they'll pull any local file from your phone.

This is only if you create your own application.
Sprint Palm Pre - WebOS 2.1 > Sprint HTC Arrive
