Are we gonna wake up one day to find 20 new apps in the app catalog or will they just trickle in one at a time?

Has Sprint/Palm mentioned anything about when? And why is it taking so long? The SDK will be officially rolled out soon, but do we have to wait til the developers on this site create stuff or does Palm have their own development team working on stuff?

Sorry for so many questions

Search the forum. It's been already discussed. SDK release "end of summer".

Don't expect anything major to change until after the end of summer. Once the sdk is out developers will still need time to make their apps.

I think we will see new apps on The 1st of January 2010 that should give them enough time to get a few more apps out and maybe another update

I think you will see apps trickle out until the SDK is released to
everyone. I'm an experienced dev and I have several apps started but I
either need more time with the leaked SDK or more documentation from
Palm on the SDK before I could release them. I'm sure most dev's are like
me and we are making progress everyday but it's a slow process without
more info from Palm. everything is taking x times longer.

Once the SDK is released I could possibly have 4 or 5 apps ready to
release within a few days and I assume that others will do the same so
you could see a flood within just a week or two.

Plus the app store is only open to the select few right now and as
far as I know Palm has not committed to any date.

I'm actually expecting a minor flood of apps to start pouring in (that's not technically a mixed metaphor, is it?).

First, there are many more developers who've been admitted to the early access program than have released applications.

Second, we had a large number of updates available immediately following 1.0.4 that I believe were just waiting for the update. I think there's another update coming soon to address some specific problems such as any remaining EAS sync issues (but not the missing features), performance issues, Exchange-Outlook reply formatting issues (and, I think, formatting issues in general since my Exchange email won't show as HTML), etc. Once that update is released, I think they'll release another round of applications that have been waiting in the wings.

Or, Second (alternative version), they're revamping some aspects of the App Catalog that will be released relatively soon, and once that's done then a second round of apps will be released.

Whichever #2 is correct, a dedicated Facebook app will be part of the next round. It's hard to believe that we don't have one yet, and I can't imagine that it'll be much longer.

Note that this is all idle speculation. And, I'm still pretty sure that the Pre will be launched on May 17...

Who knows. I'm expecting some pretty amazing apps if 100's/1000's of dev have had access so far and there's nothing new yet. If not, I'm going to be pretty damn disappointed.

1.0.4 was just a security patch. I doubt any apps were waiting for it to be released. I could see that for 1.0.3 or 1.0.5 (we'll see if this is the case when 1.0.5 gets released).

I think that's exactly what's going to happen. This week.

And not like the 2:37 thing. That was weak sauce.

Yes, only Palm knows. You should have your Palm read.
