It's pretty quiet; I've been playing with the sound volume sliders to see if I can make it louder but "system sounds" doesn't seem to have any effect on it. I kinda like it, wish I could hear it better

With 1.0.2 the sound came in for me. I don't like it either only because I can't change the volume on it.

I love that sound effect! Not too loud, but seems fitting to swoosh away an app when you're all done with it.

Initially (even after 1.0.2 update) I didn't have it either. I ended up having to go into the sounds & ringtones section and toggling system sounds on and off a few times before it finally started working.

Why does this sound seem to come and go. Sometimes I have the sound, other times nothing.

Weird, mine is always there. I can't remember it it started before or after 1.0.2, as that was the first thing I did when I got home. I do know I could hear it much better after boosting the volume of "System Sounds" under Launcher > Sounds & Ringtones.

On mine it seems to get quieter and louder, not sure what it depends on though. The side volume thing doesn't affect it, and neither did the system sounds volume level. After a little while though it'll be louder or softer.

flipping the switch, turning the phone on/off, flipping the system sound switch more seemd to work. I believe it is a small bug with the OS and hopefully will be fixed soon.

Not sure if it's just mine but...

The Systems Sound volume slider does control that swoosh sound. But I found out a couple of wierd things about it as well.

1. It also controls all messaging sounds (IM, email and SMS)
2. Changing the volume on the System Sound slider doesn't immedialtly take effect. At least with my Pre, I can turn the volume up all the way, and all system sounds will be at the same volume as before. Same with turning it all the way down. It's usually after a couple minutes or a reset that the new volume settings take effect.

I also just realized that it is on my other Pre, but very quiet... and on my Pre is pretty loud... so I guess it is a bug that they will have to address...

Its amazing how much control that WinMo and PalmOS had compared, but I am under the assumption that they wanted to make this OS simple in the beginning for new comers to Smartphones, and slowly ramp-up customizations as time goes on...
