This guy skrilla1987 over on youtube is pinching and navigating the apps totally differently than demonstrated by the palm crew. He can pich zoom (out ) and minimize an app and swipe down to close an app.

isn't it interesting ...? maybe gestures we don't know of?

great i can't post the link. but the screen name is skrilla1987 check out his only vid.

He's hitting the center button with his thumb when he starts the pinching gesture.

Why is it so hard for people to take a video right side up instead of sideways? Annoying...

Had to look at it again to make sure, but Xyg's right.

Look harder. He does. The button lights up.

The button lights to show you that it's recognized the gesture - he isn't actually hitting it.

He does hit it. He attempts the gesture twice, and only succeeds once. Once at ~1:37, where his thumb does strike the center button. The app minimizes to card view.

The other at ~1:54. Notice his thumb doesn't come in contact with the button, and the gesture fails. He has to press the center button to put the app into card view.

The button is audibly clicking when he presses it. He may have to start at the button, but he's not pressing it.

Perhaps you don't need to fully depress the center button to activate card view?

Xyg, the center button does seem to light up but it seems like its just light being reflected since it does that several times in the movie video when he doesn't go near the button. Also, why would he do the gestures if he knew he could minimize it by pressing the center button? I think you can minimize the app by the gestures. We can't be sure until we have an actual Pre in our hands.

hmmm... interesting gesture. i don't think he's hitting the actual button because he tries to pinch with one hand, which is really hard. i think the pinching is an actual gesture.

YouTube - Palm Pre: Hands on Demo Part 2 Keyboard & Screen

at about 2:12. Looks like an up swipe will cause card view to occur. So while the fine gent in the first video posted is pinching, the gesture that actually is registering is the up swipe from his thumb.

The only thing I see him throwing off the bottom of the screen is the launcher, which makes sense...
