I have installed Ubuntu with LXDE. But it doesn't support Asian languages, not even for display only. Can anyone tell me how I add Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) to Ubuntu? I don't need Chinese menus, just proper display of Chinese websites and a choice of Chinese IME's.

I looked up and installed some files and started them with the export command, but that didn't fix the display problems. All the menus became boxes instead of text.

Thanks for helping a Linux noob!

    try using synaptic:
    Code:
    sudo synaptic
and search for "Chinese language support" and install the appropriate packages. Then close the card and restart linux. Worked for Japanese, I assume it will work with Chinese.
