If you added it to .bash.rc (in the home dir) then just add an & sign after lxsession. It won't close it, but you'll be able to use the terminal and I think also close it if you want.

Gnash works just fine for me with Firefox - except that there's no sound - a known bug according to some.

hrm yeah i just gave that a try with both lxsession and startlxde in .bashrc. also gave it a try in my go.sh script which is executed from bashrc with the same results . While it does allow me to use the terminal i still cant close the window without loosing lxde as well.

Anybody try adding Kubuntu Mobile to their Ubuntu installation? From what I read it's being actively developed and using KDE Plasma Mobile. Should be pretty cool if it can get working, as they're porting apps that would work well in mobile environments.

This is what I think the PPA is for it:
    https:*//launchpad.*net/~kubuntu-active/+archive/ppa

Here are some other pages about it:
    http:*//en.wikipedia.*org/wiki/Ubuntu_Mobile
    http:*//cdimage.ubuntu.*com/kubuntu-mobile/releases/11.04/release/

    http:*//apachelog.wordpress.*com/2011/05/20/kubuntu-11-10-mobile-devices-sneak-peak/

PS: Sorry about the asterisks, first post here.

Tried Kubuntu Active on the TP with Ubuntu installed, but I could not get it to launch the GUI (had it installed via Project Neon as the PPA you're linking too only has packages for 11.10 which we unfortanetly don't have yet on TP ).

I started a new thread about pros and cons of the various desktop environments regarding operation on a Touchpad:

I would be happy if anyone who made some experiences and gained some expertise could share their knwoledge :-)

    Hi Guys!

Is adding Ubuntu possible on a touchpad that is already dual booting webOS and Android?

It's possible. I have Ubuntu and Android installed on my Touchpad.

Great! Can you briefly share your experience on how it is done? I was wondering if it is possible without having to re-doctor and re-install everything.

Well, I installed Ubuntu first and then Android, but this should still work even with Android already installed.
To start I made the ext3fs partition manually using Novaterm for the Ubuntu install.

Here's instructions on how to do that.

    UbuntuChroot - WebOS Internals

I installed Android a while after this and it worked fine.

If for some reason you don't want to repartition manually and want to use the doctor, your Android install will probably still be there and you'll just need to reinstall moboot, but I'm not completely sure. If you don't want to take a chance, you should manually repartition.

Appreciate your advise on this... Thanks!

    Hi Guys....

I have finally taken the manual path to create the ext3fs partition....

partition was created successfully... now the problem is downloading and installing Ubuntu from WOSQI.

The downloading process keep failing with corrupted package message....

How do I resolve this? Preware download will also terminate prematurely.

what happens when you install via preware instead of the quick installer, and are you sure the ext3fs partition is actually working, try the Tailor program to check it over.

if any of the ubuntu/linux variations have a requirement (typically spangly fancy looking ones) somewhere for opengl then your out of luck.

Preware never managed to complete the 60+MB of download, times out at 10MB.

Tailor apps shows that ext3 is mounted with the correct free space.

I am trying to use my browser to download the ipk file directly from the web feeds and install using WOSQI. Hope that will work.

Are you using a stable wifi connection? Preware has no inherent issue downloading large packages.

Use Tweaks to change the space allocated for the keyboard, and use the normal keyboard size control to change the size of the keyboard.
