Did you try my suggestion to force a shutdown and start it again?

Make sure you hold the power button and the center button together for 15 seconds and make sure that the screen has been shut down ... where it will be black, then, start it up again.

I will look at the webOS 2.2 doctor and make sure that they didn't change the font name to be repleaced.

Just checked and webOS 2.2 has the mentioned font at the mentioned dir

    filename: HeiS_nb.ttf --> Dir: /usr/lib

the above dir is different to where i am trying to send the file to...

Ooooops ... then I made a big typo there

No .. it is not there. It is definitly under /usr/share/fonts

You can try Internalz from the Preware feeds to navigate into your device and see if the files are correctly installed.

I am still waiting for the screenshots

If you have a backup of the file, then connect your device with the QWOSI and send the original file.

Then redo the steps to force a shutdown then a start again.

Don't forget to unplug the device when you want to shut it down and start all over again.

Also, you can doctor your device if you can afford losing some data. Doctoring the device is equivalent to factory resetting the device.

is there a way to type in arabic? usng the hard keyboard on the pre3?
    or is that pushing it?
  16. #156
OK ... Thanks CvvB very much for your support!!! Your help is really appreciated!!!!!!
I just got off the phone with HP and they confirm that it's a hardware issue and I will send it for repair since it still in warranty :-)

I have a couple of questions to you:
When I send the files (HeiS_nb.ttf and libWebKitLuna.so) - Do I have to be in:
    1 - The developer mode?
    And/or
2- Do I have to be connected in USB mode? (Only the USB logo in the middle of the screen)
I am asking because I wasn’t in developer mode also, when it asked me to connect via USB I clicked close (similar to when I was installing Preware)

    Thanks again!!!

Even the WebOS Doctor didn’t work … I think it has an issue because I tried to install the Muffle System logging package and it fail (I can forward the error to you if you like)

    Please confirm the following steps:

Assuming that I already installed Preware and Quick install and all what I need is to install the Arabization

    1. Download the most recent version of “libWebKitLuna.so” (as of today it’s v9 – 11.6MB)
    2. Download the font file “arialuni.ttf”
    3. Rename “arialuni.ttf” to “HeiS_nb.ttf”
    4. Turn “On Developer mode” by going to “Just Type” and enter “webos20090606″ or “upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart” and press enter.
    5. Turn Developer Mode on and when it prompts you for a password, just press “Submit”
    6. Connect the TouchPad to the computer via USB and Press “Close” or “Cancel” when the “Connected” notification pops up on the TouchPad
    7. On the Quick install on your PC, click Tools then Send File
    8. For the font file type the destination as: /usr/share/fonts then click send
    9. For the .SO file type the destination as: /usr/lib then click send
    10. After each send, the device”TouchPad” should display “successfully sent”
    11. The TouchPad should restart by it self
Please confirm the sequence too. Thanks

Please, don't hesitate sending me the log files. I will give them a look.

I couldn't have stated it in a better way ... Yes, exactly.

However, one small detail in here: not the device, but the QWOSI will display that the file was successfully transfered.
