    hello,
firstly thanks garfonso for your work, really

but i have little troubles with it :

at my first attempt to sync, I've got this :

and with 2nd attempt and next :

    what I did :
-downloaded zip from here to my desktop and unzipped
    -open webos quick install
-install info.mobo.syncml_0.0.8_all.ipk a trough quick install (this tjis the only one file it wanted)
-launch webossyncml and create account with my funambol log in (http://onemediahub.com/sync)

and...all appears as if I never created account, and if I got back and choose start sync, I've got message as on screen shots

so, firstly what is the good way to install it properly (hp pre3, webos 2.2.4) ?

as you have surely already realized I'm really a noob : first smartphone so first webos, but I really need to make this working, so If you could me help, it will be very nice

    thanks in advance

Oh cool. Someone is really trying to use this? Great.

Strange error messages... I never got those ones on any of my devices. :-(

I usually install this via Preware. For that I copy the ipk first onto the device (using ssh, but for you USB-mode might be easier) and then select the ipk from Preware to install.

You're right, the ipk is the only thing you need. The other stuff is just the source code.
It's a bit strange. I have this running on a 2.2.4 Pre3 also and appart from being to lazy to code the service, which would make the handling much easier the sync works very well for me.

Maybe webos quick install did something wrong during install? Please try to install the ipk from Preware once and see if that helps.
Otherwise it might be helpful to get some log output from your device.

Sorry for stupid question, but how I can search and download it application for SYNCML?
I cant search it in Preware catalog.

You are right... sadly this is not in Preware, yet. :-(
How do I get this into the preware feeds? I don't know, sadly...

Currently you need to download the ipk for yourself, the current version can be found here: https://github.com/Garfonso/SyncML/b...l.ipk?raw=true
A more general link (for future versions) is https://github.com/Garfonso/SyncML or Mobo Mobile Apps | Status information and some support for my webOs apps.

Be sure to use preware to install the packet. Either copy it to the device and then select it from preware (install packet from app menu) or enter the url directly in preware (also install packet from app menu).

WOSQI seems to fail in installing the db kinds and permissions, sadly...

You should submit it to the webOS Nation home brew gallery - then it will appear in Preware.

Yes, I just became a developer on this site... but I'll need to polish the app a little more to give it to a broader audience, I fear... Will try to submit it ASAP.

BTW: anybody can do me a sync-icon? I'm not using funambol anymore, so I want to get rid of their icon... I searched for something creative commons, but found not so much useful... And I fear I'm not good in creating icons myself.
  7.    #47
Ok, I did submit the app to the app galery and also created a new logo. Usage of the app should also be a bit more robust now, if you tap start sync in the welcome scene the sync will start automatically as soon as the sync scene and initialization is finished.

If you remove the app and install it again, you'll need to remove the account manually from the account app, also. I'll see if I can do anything about that... webos seems to clear out all my databases, which removes all configs I have saved for the accounts, including the account ID. There seems to be no way to get the accountId back later...

I hope some people find this useful anyway.

thx alot for this great work. this is the first new PIM synergy sync service by homebrew, i know of.

works for calendar on my o2online.de carrier account.

    settings:
    http://syncml.o2online.de/syncml.osp
    phonenumber
    password

    sync calendar
one way from server (firsttime), then two way or others
    datastorepath: kalender

Umlauts are working, no timezone problems.
working with old palm events, changed to syncml events and sync them to server

tested with 2 events only on pre3 without sim, so is working without beeing in carrier network.
  9. #49
sometimes the the checkbox on calendar sync disapears, making the events undefined. just go configure and recheck calendar sync.

don't mind the syncml settings in accounts, just use the syncml app to have all added and configured.

Hm.. I did see the checkbox go missing. Did not see the calendar events go undefined, though.

I think this is, because the Accounts App tries to talk to the service, which fails, because the service is not working, yet.

But I'll look into that, again.

Great that it basically works for you.

    Tested on Pre3:

    Sync with Egroupware - Good!
Sync with SyncEvolution http server evolution backend - Good!

    Hi all,

First of all, a HUGE thanks to Garfonso for his continuous efforts to make possible for Ubuntu users to synchronize webOS devices on their machines without going through the Cloud !

I've been waiting for such a happening for almost 2 years... I just discovered in PreCentral your app that I immediately installed and I am eager to test it with SyncEvolution in Ubuntu 11.04.

Getsun, I noted you succeeded with SyncEvolution and Pre3. Could you please tell me more about how you did it. I'm not that familiar with all these systems, kind of newbie

    Thanks in advance.

Soyonsfous, I'm using Syncevolution-http server. I hope these instructions help you.

    On your machine:

    1 - Install syncevolution, include syncevolution-http package
2 - Read Synchronizing Directly to Evolution via HTTP | SyncEvolution - Section **Steps for a computer and a phone**
3 - Configure your firewall to allow access from your Pre/Touchpad on port 9000 or port that you select for the http server
4 - Obtain the deviceID as indicated on the howto
5 - Use the attached peer-config settings file instead of the ones on the howto. Replace with your own username, password, peer and calendar name.

    On the WebosSyncML:

1 - Configure WebosSyncML with the url: http://localhost:9000/syncevolution, replace "localhost" with the IP of your machine
2 - Set the user & password to match the ones on step 5.
3 - Set the Datastore Path to: ./calendar
    4 - Save config

    Start the syncevolution server:

    syncevo-http-server http://localhost:9000/syncevolution
    Attached Files Attached Files

I ran some tests with events with repeating dates. As in "Every Saturday", "1st day of month", "First Sunday of month"

Only in the latter case did the sync not work. That event was recorded on the on the other end without the "Repeat" settings.
  15.    #55
Hm.. it should support the first weekday of month repeat setting.

In what application do you see the calendar entries on your ubuntu box? I'll try to setup something like this here, too. (Ok, figured it out, evolution works magically with that syncevolution thing. Nice. )

Or: Could you send me log files from the syncs from out of the webOS app that include the events that fail? Best would be one log where new events are coming from the server and the same events (how you expected them to be) are coming from the device.

Garfonso I would like to thank you for this great app.

I install a synevolution server an succeeded to sync with my Pre3 until now without problems.

My first steps with SyncML I did with my Veer. After I found the right configuration on my Pre3 I wanted to start from scratch with my Veer. I deleted the 3 'Konto' in my calendar and deleted your app. After reinstallaion of your app the configure and sync buttons don't work anymore. Are there some additional files I have to delete?

On my touchpad I can configure the server. But when I want to sync a Luna Restart is performed.
Any ideas why this could happen?

All my webOS devices are in german with latest webOS release and ‹berkalender installed.

I hope you continue with your work and implement also the contacts and memo sync. I personally only want to use a personal cloud and the SyncML server (syncevolution) seems to work very well on local server.

For my Thunderbird's I use the SyncML plugin from funambol. I tested on Linux 32 and 64 bit and also under Windows XP with my server.

Thanks for the great app, Andi

    getsun,

Thanks a lot for your post, I've been away a while sorry for this slow responsiveness .

I'll try this w.e. and let you know in this thread.

    Hi getsun and Garfonso,

I'm stuck before getting the deviceID:
    /quote
Run the sync on the client. This will fail, but will output the client device ID, which we need. On the server side, you should see something like: [ERROR] sync: no configuration found for deviceID (some long string of chars) Save that string, you need it for the next step.
    /quote

I've updated to Ubuntu 12.04 to have SyncEvolution >= 1.2 and
    /code
    syncevo-http-server http://localhost:9000/syncevolution
    /code
results in 0.0.0.0 listening on port 9000 alright, however on the client side, the Pre+ webOS 2.1.0 shows no signs of starting the sync.

I configured a new account, that ends up in the accounts of the Pre+ with my other synergy accounts when I saved it pressing the Save Config button followed by a slide back.

When I pressed Start sync, I immediately got the message:
    /code
    Capabilitproviders:
    [{"id":"info.mobo.syncml.calendar","capability":"CALENDAR"}]
    Need to create account.
    Check account
    /code

No information on the server side.

The client is in airplane mode, without a SIM, LAN connected with a fixed IP through WiFi to the server, through a Modem/Router-box of course. WiFi File Sharing app works fine so I suppose network connectivity is Ok.

What investigations could I do ? I have no clue at this point.

    Thanks for your support.

    Soyonsfous,

You might need to open a port on your Ubuntu firewall to allow connections from your phone: FROM your phone's IP, TO port 9000.

    Hi getsun,

Thanks for your reply, but I don't have a firewall running. I am behind the router of my box.

I think it has more to do with the client side, since the server seems to be listening on all interfaces on the expected port 9000.

Any other clue or some configuration settings on the palm pre+ to inspect ? I have wTerm installed.

    Garfonso any ideas ?

    Thanks in advance.
