    The video i removed from above had on Compression.
    The south park and the rest I test with has Compression.
    Let me try to remove the Compression from the south park vid and run it with 105a.

    Yes, I am very excited about this. My only issues at the moment with my pre 2 are the lack of a file manager and ogg vorbis (and wider multimedia support). Hopefully webos 2.0.1 will get sorted soon so that pre2 users can leverage these.
    Thanks.

    Note that I don't want a camcorder video of you doing stuff on your Pre - I want a high quality video file that you are attempting to play back with mplayer which results in the reported UberKernel slow-down.

    I'm still working on it now. Trying to reproduce the prob with the video i have.
    its the only one that is legal. give me a sec k

    OK, let me make this very clear:

    1) I do not want a video that someone has recorded on their camcorder.

    2) I do want a high quality video that is able to be legally downloaded and played by anyone on this forum or elsewhere, which exhibits the problem on UberKernel.

    If this so prevalent, then that should not be a difficult thing ...

    For example, do you observe the problem when playing videos from the Palm webOS NYC developer day ?

    Im not sure if this video will cause the problem but it has many formats to download. Maybe one will create an issue.

    Let me be clear again:

    I need a URL to a high quality legally downloadable video that in a 100% reproducible way causes the problem being reported.

    Why is this so hard?

    -- Rod
  8.    #188
    Like the south park video.
    It was recorded form my DVR but I can't give you a URL.

    Now every video I download from the net that is "legal" works just fine.
    I downloaded a Palm Dev vid and it plays fine with 105A
    Every HD trailer I've download from you-tube plays fine with uber.

    most file's that don't work with Uber I(we) can't give you.

    Sorry if this sounds rude. just saying

    edit.
    Now let me clean off the mem of my pre and put Globex video on it and un-install uber and test

    Hi Rod,

    Please try this one. It's an mp4, 720p resolution, 317.56mb. Fully redistributable, 100% legal original content created by me.

    Mirror 1:
    http://content.wuala.com/contents/gl..._720p.mp4?dl=1
    Mirror 2: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/146026/megapolitan_720p.mp4

    Lags massively on my overclocked Pre- on UberKernel 500/1000Mhz Screenstate settings. Haven't tried on Stock Kernel.

    Everyone else, can you please download this file too and try it on your Pre to confirm it plays incorrectly?

    Please play the same video on stock kernel on your device to make sure it's not just something else that is running in the background.

    UberKernel: Laggy
    Stock Kernel: Equally Laggy

    UberKernel: Laggy
    Stock Kernel: Equally Laggy

    A non-legal DIVX Avi:

    UberKernel: Laggy
    Stock Kernel: Completely smooth

    Perhaps, we need to test an AVI instead of MP4. MP4's seem to be laggy all over, regardless of kernel.

    ok, next we need a couple of other people to replicate your result, so we know whether it's 100% reproducible on different devices or not.

    Then the next thing is to use Lumberjack to watch the logs when mplayer starts on this video to see if it is reporting any errors.

    From Chomper

    Some high CPU / high bus bandwidth / high io load procedures;
    mplayer processing flow is simple, read the file, decode, and then output to the screen;
    I used the driver output of hardware, you can turn on debug output to see, he only used the 3-5ms of the memory bus for transferring data, reasons for the slow play caused by the extraction of mplayer - decoding process there;

    2011/1/4 Carl McGraw

    What other high-load test program are you talking about ?

    NEON, if you use it, it will make system panic;
    You can use other high-load test program, overclocking is not always a good role;

    Very very choppy with the Harrier kernel. I tried to retreive the log from lumberjack but nothing shows up in the log.
