If you download the PDK from Palm and use "pdk-device-install install" it will install OpenSSH and allow you to access it over a USB connection.

Is this different from the OpenSSH available via Preware? Or is the one available from Preware just a packaged version of this?

It is true SSH, though the Palm package doesn't allow for WiFi SSH access.

To enable those things to work, you may need to play with the various settings in your SSH program.

The Palm package allows USB access but prohibits WiFi access (without reworking some stuff), though it allows access via user root and no password.

The package in Preware is (IMO) an overall better package.

I don't understand. Why would you need ssh over usb? You just connect directly using novaterm.
