    In a recent PDA meetup, a friend asked if there was a leet converter app for webOS and I searched the App Catalog and Homebrew but could not find one (sorry if I missed it!). Anyway just to share that using an online converter, an Ares app was done in about an hour.
    I'll upload it to homebrew later but appending the ipk here for those who are interested. I'd appreciate a better icon design, thanks

    Text Morpher also has a function like this...although, with different 'freaky' alternates...

    PalmDoc,
    Nice job.
    I like the "Clear" function.
    In my app I make it a 2 step process instead, where the button highlights all the plain text...
    Also yours works for sms txting, while mine can't, due to UTF-8 encoding.

    Mine does not need network access to work, though, as all the .jsjsjs $is$ $inside$ $the$ $app$.
    LOL
    Maybe I could have saved myself from all that hand selection of characters for the conversion tables...

    That's ok. Working on an offline version based on some jsjsjs $I$ $found$ $online$ $but$ $hitting$ $a$ $bug$. $Will$ $post$ $the$ $code$ $here$ $later$ $for$ $js$ $gurus$ $to$ $help$ $out$.

    Here's the offline version adapted from here

    The button tap event to convert from English to Leet:

    Code:
    	button1Tap: function(inSender, event) {
    		phrase = this.controller.get("input").mojo.getValue();
    		this.translateText();
    		this.$.html1.setContent(translated);
    and this is the translateText function:

    translateText: function() {
    var LettersEnglish =
    new Array('n', 'b', 'k', 'd', 'e', 'f', 'g', 'h',
    'p', 'm', 'r', 'l', 'o', 'q', 's', 't',
    'u', 'x', 'w', 'y', 'z', 'c', 'a', 'j',
    'i', 'v', ' ');
    var LettersLeet =
    new Array('/\\/', '|}', '|X', '[)', '3', '|=', 'gee', '|-|',
    '|*', '(\\/)', '|2', '1', '()', '0', '$', '+',
    '|_|', '><', '\\X/', '\'/', '2', '<', '/\\', '_|',
    '|', '\\/', ' ');

    for (i = 0; i < LettersEnglish.length; ++i)
    translated = phrase.replace(
    new RegExp(LettersEnglish[i], "gi"), LettersLeet[i]
    );

    }
    but I can't seem to get anything translated. "Test" entered comes out as "Test"

    Yep, I have the/a longer version too, but was interested in your short version.
    Only thing you need now is to have it autotranslate without needing the "Go" button.
    PM me your email and I'll send you my source...

    Ah that's a good idea - should be able to do that using the onChange event. Thanks.
