This is a beta release of FFplayer.

DESCRIPTION:
FFplayer (aka File Folder Player) is a music player that plays songs from a file/folder based structure. It is built entirely on Jason Robitaille's FileMgr Service and provides File I/O access as a result.

REQUIREMENTS:
1) FileMgr Service must be installed.
2) Your songs must exist at /media/internal/music
For those who don't know, just connect your Pre to your computer via USB. Then create a new folder called "music" right there and transfer your song folders/files into it.
3) Note: Playlists are currently not supported.

DOWNLOAD:
The guaranteed method to installing FFplayer (as well as the required FileMgr Service) is to use WOSQI (WebOS Quick Install).
1) Click on the two download links below. Then save the files to your computer.
2) Connect your Pre to your computer via USB and put it in Just Charge mode.
3) Open WOSQI. Then drag the two saved files into WOSQI
4) Then click the Install button in WOSQI
5) That's it. Disconnect your Pre from your computer and FFplayer should be successfully installed.

Download FileMgr Service

If you pull this off, you'll have my business. I don't even care what other features you get in there, this is easily #1 on my list.

looking forward to it!

Thanks for the reply Ron.
I'm guessing you enjoy techno music like I do ;-) It definitely is a desruption when a gap occurs between two tracks that are part of a seemless DJ set. I have a wild idea about how to pull off gapless playback, we'll just have to cross our fingers and see if I can pull it off. And if I can pull that off, then my next step would be to try to implement crossfading between songs, but that will be even more difficult. Nevertheless I'll keep everyone posted as to how it all turns out. FFplayer may look pretty simple and basic right now but just keep in mind that I've released it pretty early in the development cycle and I'm still going to keep evolving it.

Hi

I really like your app, but there is one thing that bothers me

1. When switching between list view and now playing, there is a slight skip.

Otherwise, it's really cool. Thanks

I'm trying this tonight. I always arrange my music in a folder structure on my Pre anyway so it will be really nice to have my music player recognize and use that structure.

Cool! Thanks!!

When I'm in the File Folder list view, the main screen when I first opened the app; I went into a folder and selected a song to play. Curious to see how to played while I scrolled through other folders, I backed out and went into another folder. I selected a song to play and it played, while the previous song remain playing in the back ground.

Hope that helps!

Hi squeezy,
You know... I experienced that same thing one time in the past, but then I could never reproduce it in order to debug it. I tried what you said, but still no dice.

EDIT: I just figured out how to reproduce it. Ok this bug is my top priority. Thanks.

What I described above is the very first time I launched the app. I left out one thing I did do, the first song I selected to play I couldn't hear well so I pressed play/pause a few times to see if timeline was moving.

I can recreate it though.

Open the app. Select a song to play, let it go for a second or so, press the Next arrow to go to the next song. Back out to another folder and try playing a song. Two play at once.

It does it for me every time.

should I have uninstalled the previous version?

I tried installing v 0.0.2 , with Internalz, (having removed the previous one) and it says 'packaged installed successfully, but no launcher appears. I've tried un-installing and re-installing, but no luck.
I know this is a fault on my part, but do you have any recommendations?

Thanks.

Ok, I just repackaged V 0.0.2
I also tested the installation of it via WOSQI and it works now.

By the way, you could also try installing Jason's Internalz app and configure it to install IPK files, then you could access this thread via your Pre browser and click on the link in the first post above, and Internalz would automatically install it for you.
Thanks

VERSION 0.1.1 IS NOW AVAILABLE
(just click the same download link in Post#1 above)
(I've also just submitted it to homebrew, so it should show up in Preware and WOSQI in the next couple days)

I have now fixed the bug reported by mh3rn4nd3z3
There is no longer a skip in the currently playing song when you navigate away from the Now Playing scene and then come back to it.

New functionality...
1) Back Gesture now toggles between Now Playing and List View.
2) If you navigated from the Now Playing scene to the List View scene and you want to access the root music folder, then just click on the "home" button at the top left.
3) A bookmark automatically gets created anytime you navigate away from the Now Playing scene, or whenever you hit the pause button. Then you can close the app later and open it again and continue listening where you left off by clicking the "now playing" button at the top right.

Next thing I'll be working on...
1) Attempt gapless playback. Even if I fail at this attempt, I'll report back to let you all know how it went.

Just downloaded this app (used Internalz). I use my AT&T Pixi to listen to a lot of audiobooks which are kept in separate folders. I like the idea of being able to scrub forward and back using the preset jump keys. Unfortunately, they donít seem to work on the Pixi. The autobookmarking works great. Might I also suggest a dragable progress bar that could be used to queue different portions of the MP3.

VERSION 0.1.2 IS NOW AVAILABLE
(just click the same download link in Post#1 above)

I just fixed a bug... I had accidentally left on a shuffle feature by default (that I am still working on refining). The previous version does not play the songs in order; instead it shuffles them, but its not a random shuffle. If you like that "bug" then you can stick with that version for now, however if you want your tracks to play in sequence then download this latest version. Thanks.

@RTip10
Its great to hear that you're my first Pixi beta tester
I'll have to look into why the skip buttons aren't working for you. Unfortunately I wrecked my emulator by messing with some of the boot files related to it. I'll need to get that up and running again before I can fully debug Pixi related issues. By the way, are all of the buttons layed out on the screen nicely on your Pixi, or are they kind of bunched up? Thanks.

Also discovered that there is no bluetooth connection with the Pixi. All other audio sources work through bluetooth, but FFP does not...
