Default WebOS I/O question

I am a beginner and wants to learn programming in WebOS.
After some research I found it is said that the wrapped HTML5 Database I/O is really slow and limited ( only a few MB).
Then how to develope a application focusing on data manipulating like dictionary application? The dictionary maybe very large like Gigabytes offline-wikipedia.
Is PDK providing native C/C++ I/O method directly to files or will it be useful to develop such program?

Yes. You can have direct File i/access using the PDK. Read up on the PDK and SDL for more info.
