I hope this is the right section to post this in... I am using my Sprint-branded Pre on another network (Cricket), and I have successfully gotten internet to work through use of TinyProxy. I am a novice at this, and I just copied and pasted via TTY to istall and configure that. However, it doesn't support SSL/HTTPS, and so others have been using Stunnel as a solution. I installed it via IPKG, but I have have no idea how to configure it. I have been searching all day for sample conf files, and trying to learn how to make my own, but I am at a loss!

So I think the way TinyProxy works here is that, on Cricket, the internet goes through a proxy and TinyProxy directs data through. Stunnel is supposed to direct HTTPS data to TinyProxy by forwarding port 443 to port 888. LOL I know I sound like a total novice/noob but I am trying like heck to understand this stuff!

Also, could 3proxy be used instead since it can do http and https?

One last thing... How would I go about editing the conf files? I have been connecting to my Pre with Command Prompt by running:

    novacom -t open tty://

I do have a laptop running Ubuntu that I am more than happy to use since I can't seem to get Joe or Nano to work right in Terminus.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can offer up some help.

Did you ever get this issue resolved? If so, care to post a step-by-step for those of us trying to get their Pre (or Pre Pluses) working on Cricket?

Much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

I think you can probably get it working with a SOCKS proxy; ipkg-opt install nylon should get you started.

    Hello world,

I'm getting this post out of the mud...

Is there any solution for using a proxy on the Pre3 ? I already have openvpn working great with a proxy at the other end (http/socks/etc...) but can't use it so far.

My goal is to connect HTTP, POP, SMTP, IM and possibly other protocols (Skype ? SIP phone ? In my dreams...)

Doing some research I read stuff about :
    • tinyproxy (not found)
    • nylon (not found, unless related to carrying pouch )
    • squid (way too complicated, I need to change this quickly depending on my current connection)

Any advice please ? Thx in advance,

    Charly
