    Alright guys I am a total newb at developing for the Pre but i really want to get into it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    First of all, is it a good idea to use Ares or is it limiting?

    Second, is there any good place that you guys recommend I get started?

    And third, I know this should be really simple but... I want to have a picture object that changes its image when tapped. How do I change its image like that. What do i have to put in this function in order to do it?

    picture2Tap: function(event, inSender)
    {

    }

    Thanks for the help.

    I have an app request...i know nothing about about developing so I'll leave the help to the veterans,but can you make an app where you can edit the mp3 music files for ringtone purposes? Something sorta like how the video editing work..like if I want to just make the chorus my ringtone and not the whole song

    I haven't used Ares, but you should really just study html and javascript. I find it easier to write my own stuff instead of using an online tool to do it. Then again, anything that will produce a decent fram for you to build on would be ok.

    wc3schools - google it. They have an extensive reference of javascript- Also, read the rough cuts if it's still around about WebOS.

    How is it defined? What is inSender?
    A picture object? Is it a path to a picture?
    If it's just a link to an image, and you know the div id, then
    this.controller.get('the div id').innerHTML = "<img src='the path to your image'></img>";

    Really, there's not enough info there to give you an answer.

    I'm a newb too at the Pre, but I have been writing Actionscript 3 for a while now. I've been working through a book: Practical Palm Pre WebOS Projects by Frank Zammetti. He goes through 5 or 6 extended projects, including a game, a Twitter app, a GPS-based business locator.

    It feels like I'm learning a lot, and I'm about ready to start working on a simple game. I'm sure I'll have some Javascript issues... but like pimpmypre suggests, there's lots of online help for that.

    After you get done at w3schools.com (which I also recommend) you might want to take a look at the tutorials in my signature.

    Thank you guys for all the help. You've given me great places to start.

    And for PimpMyPre, I honestly just created a picture widget and then found its "onTap" function so I am just as in the dark as you are. Thank you for your help none the less!

    Along with pimpmypre's recommendation, learn the Prototype JavaScript Framework. Check out this post for a few months ago about getting started...
