    Not to sound like a broken record but I m having the same problem. Istalled App and Service via QI, using the link provided. GNU Tar is also installed. Everytime I run the back up it finishes instantly and there is not a folder in the USB Partition.

    Make sure that the files ppbku, pprstr, bldExList, & bldIncList are all executable. CHMOD 755 on those 4 files.

    Sorry,... When this is available on PreWare it will definitely make sure that Gnu Tar is installed AND the installation script will take care of file permissions as well.

    I coudln't figure out how to create IPKs for the services based on the services I was using as examples. If I could figure that out I would have included install scripts to take care of all this. I obviously used palm-package from the SDK on the Application but I don't think that will work for the service.

    Anyway, I'll send an email to RWhitby and see if he can't help me to figure it out.

    In the mean time, I have attached the updates. This revision includes the filepicker. You'll need to update the service and the application. Just keep in mind that obtaining them here in this thread requires a bit of manual work.

    - installing Gnu Tar [ipkg install tar]
    -CHMOD 755 on ppbku, pprstr, bldExList, & bldIncList

    Oh and a couple of notes on the file picker... in the emulator... I had to actually click on the + on the left. I couldn't just click anywhere on the 'Restore another backup' item in the list. I had to actually click on the +?????? Is that the normal behavior? I couldnt figure out how to change that. That killed about 2 hrs

    Also the file that you end up picking shows up in the bottom of the list after you select it. It wasn't intuitive how to place it at the top of the list. Anyway, you have to select it again in this list to start the restore.

    Also being in the bottom of the list is fine if you only have 2 or 3 backups.... but if you have 9+ then you won't realize that it's at the bottom of the list and you have to scroll down to find it.

    just and fyi.

    Well, they all have executable but still no joy. I still suspect it is something to do with the service.

    cut & paste these commands, one at a time....

    Code:
    param=\"/var/luna\\\\n/var/palm\\\\n/opt/bin\"
    luna-send -n 1 palm://com.tntservices.ppbkuservice/runExList {\"param\":$param}
    cat /tmp/Exclude
    The first shouldn't give you a response.

    The second and third should.

    post them here.

    I see the problem, you're right... it's the service. It's not starting.... left the upstart out of the zip.

    I updated the original files in the previous posts

    Installed those, still didn't work. I'm rebooting now to see if that helps. I'll try those other commands after the reboot.

    Okay, so now the service is running.

    Did you get different results from the app?

    Can you run 'cat /tmp/Include' & 'cat /tmp/Exclude' and verify that it looks similar to this.....

    Code:
    lq(root@castle)-(08:54:20)->
    mq(~)--> # cat /tmp/Include
    /var/luna
    /var/usr/palm/applications
    /var/palm/data
    /usr/palm/applications
    /media/internal/.app-storage

    lq(root@castle)-(08:55:16)->
    mq(~)--> # cat /tmp/Exclude
    /var/luna/data/Apps/br/config/spds/lastsyncstate_PALMBRW.bin
    /var/luna/data/Apps/br/config/spds/lastsyncstate_PALMBRW_guids.bin
    /var/luna/data/Apps/br/config/spds/lastsyncstate_PALMBRW_luids.bin
    /var/luna/data/CarrierNetworkSettings.db3
    /var/luna/data/dbdata/PalmAccountDatabase.db3

    If it looks similar to that ..... then run.....

    Code:
    luna-send -n 1 palm://com.tntservices.ppbkuservice/runBackup {\"param\":\"99\"}
    and post the results here.

    What can I say. It's now working. I don't know what I did, or that I DID anything. I connected, I ran the first cat /tmp/Include it couldn't find the file... Ran cat /tmp/Exclude it had the short list.

    Then I ran the backup AGAIN, and it took longer and created the file. I didn't do anything since my last post last night. I suppose I never tried to run it after the luna -send last night. I was tired and didn't think that. Oh well. Backup ran. Checking it out now.

    Anyone tried the restore yet? a Little nervous but thinking I'll try it.
