Ok, so I'm in Europe, here for school, I took my CDMA Pre with me, as I use it for alarms, and as my cool toy to waste time on.

I had done some patching and program installing while here, and then the 1.2.1 update installed itself while I had the WiFi on. I didn't remove previous patches. This in turn messed with USB connectivity (first had charging issues, fixed), then all that's left is that it doesn't give a sound/vib alert when plugging in the USB. (http://forums.precentral.net/webos-p...l-upgrade.html) There's the thread I had made.

I was told which file to save in order to have my texts and call logs saved so I can do a restart. I used Internalz and saved those files, thinking I'd go back in and replace them in the Pre after partial reset....

WELL ... I completely forgot about phone activation, and now I cannot get into the pre at all!

    What can I do?

I've heard about the activation hack, which would work, but I think I'd lose my USB drive data (someone confirm this please, I stupidly didn't back that up) due to having to re-flash the phone.

I can wait till December when I'm back in the USA... but that's too long of a wait without a pre.

Does anyone know how to get into the USB internal memory without the phone activated so I can do the activation hack?

On the contrary, bypassing activation is entirely possible!

Patch webOS Bypassing Activation - WebOS Internals

Here's the easy (sort of) way though:

    Edit: Here's the easier instructions:

That uses webosdoctor, which will erase the USB drive... I remember hearing that you can hold the volume keys while booting to get the USB drive. Then you should be able to remove your files and THEN do the bypass activation webos doctor.

I will try that again, but it didn't connect last time I tried, if i did that, then i wouldn't mind wiping the whole USB...

I feel so stupid about forgetting to save what was on the USB as well..
