Here's the problem - you have notifications enabled for the lock screen. You have TXT Manager and Brightness Unlinked running in the dashboard, a snoozed alarm, pending tasks, and new email. 5 little icons on the bottom of your screen...

Your Pre suddenly demands your attention, and you want to just hit the power button to see what's up (you're busy with Something Important). Well, oh crap! Only the first 3 notifications (at least with my wallpaper) are legible on the lock screen. The rest of them fade off into la-la land... and they're the ones you need to see. So, you flick the slider up, and your notification area is now almost as big as Los Angeles! They've grabbed more than half your screen space! Kind of like the over-development on Long Island...

Now if it's possible, a great app would be a dashboard manager, kind of like the selective system tray management (hide 'em until you want to see 'em) available in KDE or Windows desktops.

Example -
Put TM, BU, and Tasks into Dashboard Manager, and you'd have 1 notifier with 3 icons. Want to adjust your keyboard brightness? Tap on the Brightness Unlinked icon within the managed notifications line...

Sound good?
