Failed to start the dropbear SSH daemon:

i've tried to run it several times with the same error. is this why i can't ssh into my phone?

can anyone help? whether it's putty or winscp i keep getting "network error: connection timed out"

when my pre is plugged in via usb, i can get to root, and even

    ssh -p 222 username@pre_ip (works)

and it'll log me in. but i can't ssh over the web. it's driving me nuts

Im going to try to help even though you have been trolling my threads and giving me crap.

    Did you

    Code:
    mount -o remount,rw /
    Did you

    Code:
     cd /tmp
     wget http://gitorious.org/webos-internals/bootstrap/blobs/raw/master/optware-bootstrap.sh
#Alternately you can use this tiny url http://tinyurl.com/n8q2vy
     sh optware-bootstrap.sh
     source /etc/profile.d/optware
    have you been here

Thanks for trying to help. i appreciate it

    i've mounted

    ran this
    cd /tmp
link (still can't post link yet)

    ....after this command "sh optware-bootstrap.sh"

it runs the script to install openssh, sftp, then attempts to start dropbear daemon but fails.

i can ssh when i'm on the lan/wifi but not on evdo

i've read up a lot and search everywhere on webos internals.

You can try to uninstall dropbear

    Code:
    ipkg-opt remove dropbear
    then re-run the optware-bootstrap.sh script.

    Hope this helps... plee3
