    How do I use putty if I don't have a wifi connection? Can I do it from usb?

    You can set it up with evo I believe.

    You can do it over EVDO, grab MyIP from Homebrew to easily figure out your phone's IP.

    Although make sure the phone is being charged/plugged in, because you will lose your connection if the device goes to sleep.

    Are you just trying to get a terminal on the Pre? The easiest is use the python script and terminal to the port specified from the script on localhost. This is the "original" "rooting" method. Still simple.
    Your Pre wants Word Whirl from the App Catalog.

    Thanks for giving OneDeep instructions. I thought it could be done, I've never done it so I wasn't sure how.
