Ok so here is whats goin on...
    root@castle:/var/usr/palm/applications# df -h /var
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
    /dev/mapper/store-var
    248.0M 216.8M 31.2M 87% /var

    that ^
i have maybe 5 apps installed. why is so much space used up? i cant find it anywhere, im looking all over thru sftp and i cant find whats taking the space. I cant install anymore apps, but like i said i have 5 homebrew apps and NO Official Pre apps. Any help on what to delete? Ive already got rid of logs and random crap and thats whats remaining, is that 216mb.

edit: since i cant get the runlevel to 1, i cant resize /var to add 400mb or so..i was going to use lvresize but it wont do it since you cant umount /var..and your not in 'init 1'

outside shot, do you run the webserver? I noticed the logs in /opt/var/lighttpd are not rotated correctly and I filled up the partition when testing some scripts. Much easier to do testing on pre instead of continuing to send scripts up to a free webhost. I had a 100mb error.log file in there. I caught it because it stood out big time when I ran "du -k ."

Just thought I'd add that the /var and /opt mount points share partition on /dev/mapper/store-var. Hence if you are only looking at /var you might not be seeing what's taking up all the space. You probably know that already since you were talking about changing run levels, something I know of but never did. :P
