    since i have rooted my pre, installed homebrews and installled a few patches, i currently do not know why i have VIRTUAL BOX. i know i had to install it in ordeer to install another program, but what uses do i have for it now. can it be useful to me? so far i just use command terminal and putty. any help is greatly appreciated

    VirtualBox is for running the SDK, sounds like you really have no need for it if you're already rooted and installed the appropriate optware packages.

    VirtualBox is a virtual machine. In this case it runs a full blown instance of a Palm Pre system inside a window. This functions as an emulator.

    You can pretty much run anything inside VirtualBox, including other PC operating systems etc.

    Like Kyusaku indicated, if you have no need for the emulator (because you're not developing anything) then you don't need it at all.

    You need VirtualBox if you are writing a program that has the potential to accidentally harm your Pre.
