    I used this as my starting point. Patch Phone Disable Missed-Dropped Call Sound - WebOS Internals

    mount -o remount rw, /
    cp /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.phone/app/controllers/announcer-assistant.jsjsjs /$usr$/$palm$/$applications$/$com$.$palm$.$app$.$phone$/$app$/$controllers$/$announcer$-$assistant$.$js$.$bak$

    2. Look for (line '''818''' on WebOS 1.1) [code ] QDLogger.log( "announceDisconnectNormal" [/code]

    3. A few lines below that (lines 820-823):

    Code:
      this.appControl.showBanner(
    			{
    				messageText: message,
    				soundClass: 'notifications'
    },

    4. Delete
    Code:
     'notifications' leaving both apostrophes ''
    Code:
    this.appControl.showBanner(
    			{
    				messageText: message,
    				soundClass: ''
    },

    5. Save and quit
    Code:
     vi :wq

    6. Now restart the GUI

    Code:
     stop LunaSysMgr && start LunaSysMgr
    7. Now remount read only

    Code:
     mount -o remount,ro /
    No more sound!

    You will still get your popup message

    **(Do not delete the word message in above statement your phone will keep rebooting)**

    Funny!!! I just did that tweak, seriously like 10 minutes ago! Now I will have to jump back into the file and do this one.... Thanks... You should think about adding it to the wiki!

    You should change it so it has the [code ] [/code]

    So:
    Code:
    soundClass: 'notifications'
    to
    Code:
    soundClass:''
    (deletes notifications)

    then
    Code:
    initctl stop LunaSysMgr && initctl start LunaSysMgr
    to restart (if in PuTTY that is)
    But truthfully if they are reading this they probably know all this anyways

    But it is awesome non-the-less!

    No I have not tried it as of yet cuz I haven't called myself....(where's my wife's phone) and it was my bad people, not mamouton's coding! I did the typo!

    OK got a call.... Ended the call by "swoshing" the phone app up and then got the visual notification but no sound!!!! Works like a charm!!!! I would say go ahead and post!

    sounds alittle complicated. why not make it a patch file to use with the quilt command?

    Complicated, not for me... what was complicated was getting those patches to work.... I installed all that I should in the patch instructions, got 2 to work then the rest all said patch doesn't exist or something so I got frustrated and quiet. And I really wanted that character counter patch to work but no such luck....

    This tweak, you just go into the file in vi, go to the line, press I, make the modifications, press esc, press :wq, then reboot. Nothing to do with installing all that patch stuff.

    Ok, well I finished these and made sure not to delete the word message in above statement, however my phone has gone into reboot loop.

    Soft resets and removing battery haven't worked.

    Your code should look exactly like this.
    Code:
    QDLogger.log( "announceDisconnectNormal", callState.number  , name);

    		this.appControl.showBanner(
    			{
    				messageText: message,
    				soundClass: ''
    			},
    Make sure you haven't deleted your parenthesis or comma after the parenthesis. Are you running 1.1? Also please note that after soundclass: that it is two apostrophes not a quotation mark.

    Is there a chance to get the patch that was availbable to disable various phone sounds updated for the Pre 3?
  14. #14
    It seems there is no app directory in /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.phone on the Pre3 (webOS 2.1.0).
    Any idea how to find its equivalent in the new architecture ?

    I am not sure where to look to find the files. I was looking to update several patches over the break, going through each file to find a reference is tedious. It must be an easier way.
