    This occured to me while I was installing Ubuntu 9.10 on one of my old beige boxes; if we can get to the file system, and run apps from the pre and even shut off the webOS GUI, is there ever going to be the possibility of running an X server on the pre? Maybe get a little gnome or Xfce on the pre?

    I realize it might be pretty useless, but it seems with an open system like WebOS it shouldn't be as hard as, say, getting linux to run on an omnia.

    It's not done yet, but since I already replied to someone else's comment, I'll link it here:

    So keep an eye out for updates... it's not only possible, but the x server itself is already here, with more on the way . We'll post it in the main preware when it's ready.
