    What string are you using:
    It should be this:

    /usr/palm/frameworks/mojo/submissions/200.47/resources/en_us
Please hit the thanks button if I helped you

This is what you should be typing into the putty command for webos 1.3.1:
    Code:
    sudo mount -o remount,rw /
    cd /usr/palm/frameworks/mojo/submissions/200.47/resources/en_us
    mv alternatechars_table.json alternatechars_table.json.old
    sudo wget http://files.getdropbox.com/u/1517634/alternatechars_table.json
    mount -o remount,ro /
    stop LunaSysMgr && start LunaSysMgr

Can someone just make this into a patch? I'm way too lazy to have to undo this in a week when 1.3.5 comes out.

That will work but no need mount -o remount,ro /
The pre does this automatically when you reboot.

    Also an easier command is
    Code:
    pkill LunaSysMgr

There is a much easier way, Have you tried WinScp? Its a windows based explorer type ssh program that allows you to copy and paste. very easy to use and no more typing commands.
    get it here:http://winscp.net/eng/download.php

Believe me Ive tried numerous ways to get this as a patch working but I obviously dont have what it takes, Im still working on it I will post If I get it.

well,I downloaded the file by plugging the URL into the my browser. I'm just gonna use WOSQI to send the file. Just as easy, less typing.

    Update:

OH and BTW....it worked great! I'm gonna try and make a patch for it. I've never made one, so this might be quite comical.

i think i finished the patch, but not sure how to test it, anyone wanna test it for me?
  12. #92
If you want to test your patch, you could put an orignal alternatechars_table.json back in the correct location, then intsall your patch via WOSQI.

BTW...If you'd like, you can send me a copy to look at, and I'll give it a try.

nice, ive been lookin forward to gettin this patch back again...i noticed awhile ago it wasnt available, but ive been too busy bustin out themes to try and find out what the status was. So, if i copy the code from a few posts back and use the command line on WebOS QI it'll work? Or should i just use a cmd in root. I guess it's the same difference just wondering if that'll work ok. Thanks and good luck makin that into a patch...

Update: No, WebOS QI didnt work. I'll just wait...nah, i'll probably obsess over it until i figure it out...haha

@holley2583 --- This is what work for me.

    1. Backup your original alternatechars_table.json.

    2. Hit http://files.getdropbox.com/u/151763...ars_table.json to download the updated file.

    3. Send the updated file to...

    /usr/palm/frameworks/mojo/submissions/200.47/resources/en_us

    ...using the WOSQI menu command.

I'm sure the cmdline would work, as well.

Would be awesome if the sym box could be patched so that sym-K (or whatever) showed you a table of the actual icons instead of the text combination for them.
  19. #99
Here's a patch file I put together you can use through WOSQI.

It worked on my Pre...Please let me know if it works for you.

If there's interest, I may expand the patch to more languages.

BTW...I switched around the k & z mappings because I like the symbol emoticons over the lettered one...Since the z and sym keys are on opposites sides of the keyboard, it's easier for me to cycle through them by repeated pressing the z.

Edit: I added a patch matching the original mapping layout.

I tried this and now when I hit Sym K or Z nothing comes up! Can you tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it?
