I think I rooted my Palm Pre.
But I've never done anything with Linux, so I'm really quite confused and I don't want to mess around.

Pre Dev Wiki says to setup an Optware Package, but I have no idea how to do that.
I got PuTTY to open and it says that rootcastle thing, but I can't paste scripts that Pre Dev Wiki says to type in, so I don't know if I'm doing anything right.

Should I just stay out of developer mode?

Rooting and installing packages, with the detailed instructions on the Wiki, is mostly copy and paste of commands.

If you are uncomfortable, you may not want to do it.

However, worst case is that you have to do a full restore with the latest OS package. If that worse case is OK, forge ahead and gain knowledge.

to paste in putty, copy in the browser, put your cursor in putty and right-click. In putty right click IS PASTE.

Is there a new link to a copy of the webos image? The link on the wiki is broken.
