    Hello,

    Is there native support for mp3 streaming (specifically buffer handling)?

    Thanks,

    Matt

    I believe so. \usr\palm\applications\com.palm.app.streamingmusicplayer might be of interest.

    inside there, i saw:

    Code:
    		// on palm host, fill in a sample URL to see things working
    		// TODO: take this out before ship
    		if ((navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Mobile"))==-1) {
     			//launchParams.target = "http://ss.bod.org/mv4tst/Jeremy/Stream/http/SteelyDanBlackCow.mp3";
    			launchParams.target = "http://172.16.11.130/15.mp3";

    			launchParams.mimeType = "audio/mpeg";
    		}

    	this.stageController.pushScene("remotenowplaying", launchParams.target, launchParams.mimeType);

    For some reason there is a 30 second limit on mp3 streaming, for me anyway and someone else verified. I've been looking for the 30 second limit in the code but haven't found anything.

    test at www.radioio.com/io2go

    Thanks for the replies guys. Is there a last.fm client yet? If not, I look forward to developing it. Check out my old (very recently defunct) project lastfmmobile.

    Regarding the time limitation on streaming, here's what I found over the weekend:

    Treo 300 -> Treo 600 -> Treo 650 -> Treo 755p -> Pre -> Epic 4G -> TouchPad

    Interesting... I would assume that it was something to do with handling of the pls. did you try opening the mp3 directly?

    I'm sure someone could whip up a mp3 player that utilizes the previously mentioned api function.

    The last.fm player would basically be this: load several last.fm xspf, parse and put the entries in an M3U or PLS or whatever or maybe I'll just make my own xspf parser and inject the mp3 into the api and voila.

    what are you using to play? I highly doubt there's a debugger, but are you sure the software is using com.palm.app.streamingmusicplayer?

    According to some of the previous posters, streaming isn't a problem; but your issue sounds specifically like re-buffering isn't working.

    I routinely stream hour long radio shows. It maybe only buffers a total of 5 minutes or so, so as you get further into the file, it needs to rebuffer if you start it over.

    I have not altered anything to do with MP3 streaming I might add, and I was doing this before I started digging around into the phone.
