Has anyone who has rooted their Pre tested to see if the Wifi mac address can be changed?

I don't have a Pre yet so I havent been able to test this, but one of the following commands should work if the driver allows it:

ip link set address 00:00:00:00:00:00 dev eth0
    ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:00:00:00:00:00

Anyone want to try this and let us know if it works?

Just purchased a used AT&T Palm Pre Plus that I've unlocked and have used on the Telus network. I did try the commands you posted and they worked, but after a shutdown & restart of the phone it reverted back to the original mac address.

The network I connected to does MAC filtering, my attempt to connect after the reboot was unsuccsessful, the ifconfig command confirmed my orginal mac address was back along with device info.

Isn't your phone sitting behind the wifi hotspot so the mac address everyone sees of for the router and not your phone?
