Default Facebook App Login Issues (Since App was available)

To Head off the Questions, this post is abou the FACEBOOK APP made by Palm. This is not about the facebook.com website veiwable in the browser.

OK, so since the facebook app became available (1.2?) I have been unable to successfully to get it to log me in. Every single time, it goes to the spinning circle like it is trying to log in and then goes right back to the login page asking you to sign-in.

Steps I have taken to resolve this issue:

- I verified that my facebook login works just fine through the browser.
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app (about a million times it seems)
- I have shut-down / removed the battery / restarted / rinse / repeat / etc.
- I have removed all preware patches

Steps I haven't taken:

- WebOS Doctor (can't confirm it will gain me anything here and the app isn't THAT critical to me)

It doesn't appear that I am alone in this regard either:
http://forums.precentral.net/webos-a...n-trouble.html
http://forums.precentral.net/webos-a...t-sign-me.html
http://forums.precentral.net/webos-a...-problems.html

There doesn't seem to be a resolution in any of those three cases either.

There are no error messages generated. I can't seem to find anyway to generate a log or anything. I am pretty much stumped.

Any thoughts?

For reference, my phone is now WebOS1.4 with no patches.

Me four. I like I said in the other post. I have two Pres, one works and other one doesn't. Strangely, the pre that worked is in webdev enable mode, preware installed, and mytether. The one that refused the sign in is a virgin phone without any soft mods.

Same problem here, with the original version and the new version both. What fixed it for me was a partial reset. Bit of a PITA for just FB.

Thanks to Precentral member bjshedwick for the fix.

Still restoring things to the way they were, and remembering, yet again, that the more you customize a device, the more work it is to do any sort of restore.

lets you sign out of the phone and clears out its data except the ones in usb drive mode

@topic is it confirmed already that the partial erase fixes the log in problem?

It seems that the only way it's been fixed is by doing the partial reset.

What, other than a partial reset, could be a fix?

Is it a patch or a service running that is preventing the login?

Well, for me, I actually did a complete rebuild via WebOSDoctor (probably overkill, but my phone sure is running faster now). That fixed it for me. I can log in now just fine. (As of an hour ago when I finished the rebuild). I even reinstalled preware and the patches I wanted and it continues to work, so I have no idea what was causing it. Likely some sort of corrupted file. (Which explains the reset approach working.)

(And let me say, holy crap is this facebook app LIGHT YEARS ahead of the previous one. Accepting friend requests would be the cherry on top. Plus integrating facebook chat into the messaging app...)

I gotta pass on the reset. I just doctored my phone for 1.4, and that's ....a bit much. I'll just have to remember for next time.
