You'll need to install the Palm SDK to do a "palm-package"..

BUT... it's easier to use the Ipk Packager instead

I wanted to write more, but I was really really tired.

Right now, it's just the source code. I apparently accidentally included an ancient ipk in the sgv2 repo, but you probably shouldn't use that, it says it's 1.0, which probably means it's the first one i made, which probably means it's little more than an empty window

I suppose you could probably also use the LG webOS SDK as well. I'm pretty sure that the IPK files are compatible.

I definitely would love to receive pull requests, or see what others might do with it.

I'm not sure if you're asking "Does it work?" or "How does it work?" .. Yes, it works. I'm not sure how to answer "How does it work" :-)

Hmm... Maybe it's a "how to use it?" question?

If anyone wants to get involved in development, I just had a pretty simple idea -- since the only ongoing update mechanism will be Preware, which doesn't currently have a system to automatically notify a user of updates to apps.. if someone wants to hook up a mechanism that will check a specific file on my website to see what the latest version is, and popup a notification for an update...

I imagine it would check http://www.ericbla.de/synergv1/version.txt (or synergv2/version.txt) and compare it to the current appinfo.json version and popup a dialog informing the user of the different version. Could make it happen automatically perhaps on a weekly? basis, and add a menu option to check at will?

... or if you want to get super fancy, you could check github and parse the appinfo.json from there.. or parse the filenames of ipks there.. or something.

We could probably find some sort of free jenkins-like system where we could also wire in the ability to check out the code, dump out an ipk, commit it to the repo, update preware / webosnation .... could probably just do that with a shell script too, though.

Well, the first step -- you need an account at voice.google.com . After you have that, you can sign in with the app, and then I hope it's obvious from there, but feel free to ask more specific questions And don't blame it on a translator, mi espanol es muy malo, tengo solamente uno clase de espanol, > viente anos "ago"..

(and that's the most spanish i've said in at least 10 years..)

Hehe. I'm usually up for the night shift, work until 4 or 5am, then wake up at noon so I can catch my first meeting of the day, between 9am and 10am on west coast time.

I've done a little bit of work towards getting the code into a state where it will run. Have noted some issues in the github. Have not actually tried these repos on device, but they are currently in a state of "it runs, but it doesn't work right" when running them in Chrome, so that's not so good (especially since S1 is on the Chrome store...)

New patch up to fix the issue I was having in Chrome. If anyone else is having this issue outside of Chrome, then I guess I'll need to figure out the distribution script problem sooner rather than later

    no, Chrome from my desktop.

Have you configured a telephone to use for calls, from the voice website?

I had been considering such a thing. The machine that I use for random stuff like that is currently getting an upgrade. In the other thread (DEVELOPERS! Post here if your apps will be available after the HP Catalogue closes), I am hoping to collect github links and source links so that I can do something like that with nightly builds. Not sure if it would publish to webosnation's feed, or somewhere else.
    Did you know:

webOS ran on a Treo 800 during initial development.

If you setup Voice to send messages via Hangouts, then the Voice website will stop working, and so will SynerGV.

You're welcome to point at mine, or a fork of it, or whatever. I've been doing a little work on the synergv1 repo right now, since it works directly in chrome. I'm hoping that synergv2 was a little more bulletproof on dealing with the not-quite-valid json string that google is pumping out now... but on the other hand, sgv2 has all of the stuff needed to package it correctly. I'm still sorting out what the differences are between my sgv1/webos directory versus my main source tree.

Eric, do you have any plans for posting ipks for either version on github (for those of us who have never packaged source code, let along written source code)?

FYI, I currently am using v1 v1.2.2 on my Pre3--am I correct that your source includes an update that never made it through the App Catalog?

I wanted to purchase v2 before the App Catalog stopped selling, but HP foiled me when they shut down the storefront backend early. (Thanks, HP, for reminding us why we loved you so much. )
